Please help impaction :(

I brought him in today to where I work. I work at a vet as a dog groomer but they aren't specialists. The head doctor said our new doctor spent a year at an emergency clinic and dealt with this before. Hopefully they have everything here they need to make him better. His back legs are still mobile and he passed a tiny ball of shells overnight. Still waiting to see if the olive oil works. More updates to come after the x rays.

You are so dang lucky you can get xrays done where you work. That's going to be really telling. Have you googled what impaction looks like on xray?!?

Im not quite sure. The doctor at my work gave him some fluids and mineral oil and wanted to wait overnight to see if we should do an enema. He passed some liquid and small while balls earlier today, but not the walnut shells. I took an x ray and have it on my phone but dont exactly what i am looking at. Hopefully it is moving along and will pass sometime soon. Thanks for all of the helpful advice and what does everybody think about enema's?

Can you post the x ray up here?

Depending on whats seen in the xray should determine if an enema is needed or not.
I personally have very limited experience with x rays, but I am sure there are a few members here who could help tell us what we are looking at

Here is the x ray, its very hard to see whats going on because your looking at everything and not just the walnut shells. Hopefully this helps to determine what he needs.

Oh boy! :?
Like I said I don't have much experience with bearded dragon x rays, but from the ones I have seen, they looked much more 'empty' than this one.

My lack of experience in this subject might be leading me to a wrong conclusion, but it really looks like there is a LOT of shell in him.
Hopefully someone more experienced can chime in on the subject.

EDIT: Just to add, I do think an enema is the way to go if that is in fact a bunch of shell in him.

I think...and hope...it looks worse than it is. The impaction is on his right side, so I think everything else you see is organs.

I think you might want to PM Drache to come and check out the X ray. She has much more experience with this than I do.

Only thing throwing me for a loop is I am used to seeing x rays that look like this:

As you can see, this dragon looks much more 'empty' so to say. So I am not sure if your dragon is just stuffed full of shell, or if the x ray used was different somehow in strength perhaps?

Oh wow. :? I opened the xray in my picture viewer and corrected the exposure so I could see it better. Maybe it's just the iPhone shot, but it looks overexposed. That is a lot of foreign material in that abdomen.
