Actually cyclone Yasi. Haven't seen hand warmers up here in Queensland (it's too hot). However do have a gas camp cooker and hot water bottle at the ready!

O gosh! I am thinking so much about you guys - even South Africa has been affected by some of the bad weather, but nothing close to what you have! I cannot even imagine what I would do faced with a disaster like that. Just remember you're on my mind and if there is anything I can do from such a distance - give me a shout.

PS: We also don't have those hand warmers in SA.

Well, so far so good. Looks like it is going to hit further north of here (between Cooktown, Townsville, Innisfail area). But still expected to be at least a category 4 at this stage so, winds up to 250 km per hour.. not good.

Hi guys, here in Bundaberg, Queensland (in Australia) we are all good. Lots of farms, the marina etc really badly affected. Cyclone Yasi turned into a category 5. Worst affected areas are Innisfail, Cardwell, Mission Beach, Dunk Island, Ingham (far north Queensland). Complete devastation. Power not meant to be reconnected for approx 3 months (yes months!). The cyclone went so far inland it was unbelievable. Approx 600km inland!. Only one fatality so far which is an absolute miracle! Thank you God! Thinking of you guys of there in the US as we've heard that temperatures have been as low as -30 celcius.
