I agree with Tracie, too, you've been through a very bad time with Ella, yet you kept her comfortable, cuddled her, loved her and she knew all this. I'm also proud of the way you took care of her, and she was able to spend more time with you. I've had losses this year, too, and it's always hard to say goodbye to a loved one. She was as comfortable as you could make her.
I know it'll be hard, but I hope you have a calm Christmas & a better 2012.

And I wanted to tell you that I also have kept Sweetie's tank the way it was when she was well. It's going to be a long time before it's going to be dismantled, so take all the time that you need. You'll know when you've healed enough to handle the task.

Every time I read this updated thread it makes me so happy to be a part of this community. Everyone is so thoughtful, caring, and supportive of one another. Thank you for keeping us updated about Ella and I hope things are going better for you... Let us know if you need to "rant" or chat about anything, we all are proud of how well you took care of her and she knows how much you love her still

Thanks for the picture of Rubio. SO cute.
I'm doing a little better, sorry I have not been on as much, I just got a new job, and since this is my school vacation week I have been doing the 6:30am-2:30pm shifts. 8 hour work days are killing me..I get up at 6, go to work, come home and eat and usually fall asleep for a little bit, then feed everybody and shower and go back to bed! I am sooo tired, but luckily tomorrow is my last morning shift, then I get until wednesday off! I really hate this job, already, but I need some extra cash for the pets!

I hope you all had a good Christmas! Mine was okay..we stayed at home and my family from my dads side came over and we ordered chinese food..I stayed in my PJs all day and played with my lil cousins I was hoping that I was going to unwrap Ella's ashes, hoping my mom really did bring Ella and got her cremated a a present for me, but that did not happen. I am hoping, now that my mom got her car fixed and has wednesday off I think, that she will bring her. IF its not too late now..

I actually DID end up unwrapping somebodys ashes..not Ella's though. My papa died in 2005, and ever since I have been asking my grandmother to give me some of his ashes, because I wanted to put them in one of those urn necklace thingys, but she ended up buying me one and putting his ashes in it for a gift.

But thanks everyone. Everyday gets a little easier, but the pains still there, and I think about her everyday. I did end up cleaning out her tank. I got Blaze all new things for her tank for Christmas, and while I was setting it up I decided to move the divider and clean out her half so Blaze could have more room. Plus, I could not go on any longer looking at her empty half. It was torture. I washed her blanket and I have it on my bed. I wanted to keep her stuffed animals, but when she died, I put her in her carrier and wrapped her up in her other blanket and gave her the two stuffed animals so she would not be lonely out there

You're an amazing girl Kaitlyn. I'm sorry her death has been so hard for you. We had Redrock in the freezer until we could bury her. It's not so bad to have them in there, it's just sad because they are gone, no matter where you put them.

Hi Kaitlyn,
Just wanted to let you know that I'm glad you put Ella's blanket on your bed. I did the same with Sweetie's blanket & pillow. It's amazing the comfort it gives me just to touch the blanket. I'm with you on that one. I'm also hoping your mom will help you out with getting Ella cremated.

I'm glad you enjoyed Rubio's pic, he's such a ham. I miss him, as he's sleeping away, so is Didi & Lonzo. Only Leo gets up every day & I think he does just so he can watch cartoons on TV (his tank is beside the little TV in the living room). He's getting everyone's cuddles right now, I'm hoping the other boys wake up soon, but probably not!

Take care Kaitlyn & post some pics of your other dragons when you have a minute. I'm glad you gave Blaze the other half of the tank, it will help ease your pain a bit.

Thanks for sharing, that sure is a cute Christmas card & you have lots of other critters, too. They're all beautiful, so healthy. Blaze & Wayne have really interesting colours. I loved the 1st pic of Blaze, that look, like "what in the world are you doing????" and "I'm watching you". So funny. I just love dragons! Your friend sure has a great camera, the close ups are so clear. Lucky you! And the pic of Wayne with his mouth open, like he's saying "got any more worms & if you do where are they?"

I was so impressed to see Blaze eating that salad, my crew will only eat them if they're offered with a human hand. I even got them bowls to put in their tanks, but they either igorned then or played with then or ran them over. So what can I do to get them to eat their salad? What's your secret? please!

Blaze was eating salad from her bowl by herself when I got her. The problem with her though, is that she will ONLY eat romaine lettuce, sometimes with kale or collards thrown in, and dandilion greens. She doesnt touch carrots, peas, blueberries, raspberries, banana, apples..just some greens!

And with Wayne, I got him at 4 years old and the only time he ever had salad before was when he was a year old and I was babysitting him and gave him some salad and he ate it. David only gave him pellets a a few crickets once a week. So when I got Wayne, he had NO idea what salad, dubia, wax worms, and super worms were, but he loved them! And with salad with him, I had to start off hand feeding him, then I would put it in his bowl and hold the bowl in front of him when he ate, then eventually I could just put it in his tank and he would run over to it and eat by himself!

They do have interesting colors..they are both from PetCo so I have no idea what their parents looked like, or what breed they were..they defiently have normal in them, but IDK what else!

Wayne & Blaze are very beautiful and healthy beardies, so I know they give you joy & to introduce better food to Wayne must have been a great experience. I'll take your advice re: salad when they all wake up, they're all sound asleep right now, all 4 of othem, it's really quiet. I'm hoping they'll get the drift :mrgreen:

Even "normal" parents can give colours in areas to their offspring. I have no idea of the parents of any of my dragons, being all rescued or adopted. I know Lonzo was bright brick red when he was a baby, then as he turned into an adult he lost the red & went yellow w/black spots (happy colours) to dark brown (annoyed colours!).
Rubio was also red as a baby & I named him Ruby (thought he was a she until he was 5 mo old) so then changed his name to Rubio. His normal colours are a light burnished gold with light blue bars, but he can turn himself totally pale yellow, too.
Leo has a bright yellow head & a brown body with a thin yellow diamond pattern. When he's been in the bath swimming for a few minutes, his body goes so light it's almost translucent. It starts to darken as soon as he's out of the water.
Didi is bright yellow and orange, when he's really happy he just gets brighter. When he's annoyed his colours just go duller. He has yellow polka dots on his tummy! He's my foster beardie that is now staying with me forever, his owner has moved to Japan and there is no way to transport Didi to Japan without killing him. So she comes to visit when she can & I send her lots of pics.
Sweetie was a brown/beige beardie with yellow rings around her eyes and spots of yellow through the brown/beige. When she was really happy she'd turn a beautiful light gold colour & when she slept she turned a pale yellow colour.
Every dragon is so different, it's fascinating to watch their colours change as they grow!

I'm glad you had a good Christmas and I hope 2012 is a much better year for both of us

Blaze & Wayne both look great, the pictures turned out very well indeed. He did a great job with his camera making the Christmas card, too.

Hi everyone,
I am doing a little better. I still miss her and I think about her everyday, but atleast I dont get upset every time I think about her now.

And, I just wanted to let you all know about an interesting question I had on my mid term test today. After watching the movie "Pay It Forward", we were asked the question of "Do you think that the human population as a whole is good? Would a person reach out and help a random stranger and not expect anything back? Support your answer with details." My answer was of course. I told the story about how people on here raised money for Ella's surgery, even though we dont know each other other than through this site. I told about how people on this site help each other out all the time, in whatever way we can. I think I got an A on that question

All the other critters are doing well too. Wayne is brumating though. I made him get up today and sleep on his basking branch. I am going to bathe him and feed him tonight if I can keep him awake long enough. He has been a total zombie all week, hiding under his blankie!

But, I have been working my butt off and decided I need a vacation. I used my last 2 pay checks to buy a plane ticket to go out to Reno Nevada to stay with my favorite aunt and uncle for 2 weeks. I am going to miss my babies, but they will be in good hands. My good friend Cody, the one that took the pics for me, is going to be taking care of them, for the most part. He's going to send me pictures of them every day :wink:
