Hi, I would like to know the thoughts on feeding Beardies pinkie and fuzzy mice (frozen or live) from some of the more experienced BD owners. I've read they are good for calcium but high in fat. How many and how often is okay to feed them? My six and a half month old beardie seems to like them. Sophiro, my beardie, is a big guy for his age. He was eating superworms when he was 3-4 months old with no problems. He is 18 inches long and over 300 grams at six months! right now he isn't eating much at all, he's in a sort of brumation, on again, off again. He will sleep for days then be awake for a couple, eat a little, poop and go back to sleep. I've been soaking him for about a half hour, once a week to keep him hydrated, but I worry he's not getting enough calcium or vitamins, because he won't eat dusted crickets or salad. (He will wake if I touch or hold him) Occasionally he will eat superworms or a pinkie or fuzzy but this is rare. The last he ate was about a week ago, he ate a pinkie, a fuzzy, a little salad, and a few (6) superworms. Then he pooped and hasn't done much of anything since then. Any thoughts???

you should not feed any beardie pinkies or fuzzies end of story.
They are high in fat offer next to no nutritional value for their size and can be super hard to digest.

Stick to crickets or mealworms. They have up 2 16 times the amount of protein for their size than steak!!
Along with this give him some chopped up vegies and he will love you for it!

many people will say do not feed pinkies or fuzzys. I also agree. I've read though that sometimes it is fine to give a pinky to a female after they have layed some eggs.

This is a case of what We KNEW 10 years ago VS what we KNOW now.
Its been found that the benefits of mammal protein is minimal. The dragon simply stores it in the liver and does not utilize it. Over a long time it leads to fatty liver disease.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
