Phantom eggs

Purchased a one+ year old female to keep our 3 year old male company after the loss of his companion. We were told that this female definitely has never been in contact with a male. The second day they were together he mated with her. The first 2 weeks she barely ever ate and only had a couple extremely small poops. Yesterday she unexpectantly laid one yellow egg and 16 white eggs. We are being told that these eggs "are no good, throw them away". They are currently in an incubator and after a day of rest she is eating and pooping like normal. Should we throw them away or hope for the best?

...also, we are told that she hadnt pooped for about a week before we got her and she was extreme bloated (looking) but no eggs were felt.

if their white and healthy looking keep them! just remember its a big responsability incubate them and make sure you come out with 16 healthy babys . if you do want to kill them, sadly you have hammer a nail through their heads. freezing is slow and painful

You can freeze them as long as they are not to far along. They don't start developing a lot till like the last couple of weeks in the incubation. By your post date they are only like a week into the incubation and at that stage they have veins in the eggs and maybe a tiny little pin top that is forming the baby. You can just put them in the freezer for a couple of days and they will be dead if that is what you want.

Weight you advantages and disadvantages of keeping the babies and make an informative decision.

According to my bearded dragon book, sometimes clutches include "slugs," or unfertilized eggs. That's probably your yellow one. You're supposed to get rid of it, or else it will rot and possibly harm the other eggs.
