Oh, that is so sad. I was really hoping for the best outcome when you guys went back! :?
There still has to be something you can do, and I agree that at least they are being watched now! :shock:
I would still go back, everyday if needed, to check on the beardie, to let them know I am still keeping watch, and to see if I can talk to who was their when you first discovered the bd. In a way I wish it was at my store (but yet of course I am glad it wasn't), because I would have given it to you and put it through as an adoption.
I agree about the just stealing it thing. Although that is wrong, the beardie would be in so much better hands that I doubt you would have gotten into serious trouble! And honestly, the way that store sounds, they probably wouldn't have even noticed it was missing until it was too late to do anything.

My best of luck to both beardie and you! I hope things work out to where you get to take that little guy home!

I have been following the thread but delayed posting until now because of my fears that I might say something out of line considering this is a PG-13 forum.I find this appaling and I hope that the ASPCA follows up with this because IMO its downright criminal and until these larger stores like Pet Warehouse,Petco,Petsmart,etc are held accountable for these types of incidents it will continue.I have to admit I may have ended up in jail because I would have been right there with taking him right out of the store.I am proud that there are people like you in the world standing up for those who have no voice and no matter what you should hold your head up high and be proud for speaking up and taking action.I do hope there will be a happy ending to this story although there really should have never been a story that had to be told.

that is intense! i give you so much credit for what you did and i wish you the best outcome possible. Some/most pet stores are horrible in how the handle their animals even the smaller "reptile specialists."

Omg. I'm leaning towards the theft thing now too. I hope the ASPCA officer stays on top of that store. Stores like that need to be shut down! Any updates?

Well, yesterday hubby went in pet store to check on the little guy and he wasnt in the for sale tank anymore but he was still in view of the public in a little tin aquarium. Hubby says it was about 4 inches tall and maybe 6 inches wide. . With a heat lamp above it but not on. . The manager is there and so hubby just pretends like hes interested in the other beardie they have and just asking questions about them and he says "You got any bigger bearides" and the manager says one but he wont be out here till later. Hubby says oh can I see him. The manager led him to the poor little sick guy and hubby says oh I think you forgot to turn the heat light on so he turns it on lol. He called the officer from the ASPCA this morning and they had to call him back and they did 5 mins later and told him this-- The officer wrote in her report there was a bad case of animal neglect and the manager or owner had till today to get the beardie medical attention by a licensed vet and documentation of the vet visit or the animal will be removed. The officer and another ASPCA officer would be going in today to check what has been done or leave wth the animal and they will call my hubby when they are done. So we have not heard anything yet since the call this morning so I am impatiently waiting to hear the phone ring lol. So as soon as I hear anything I will let you all know.

I also have considered the theft thing but I have 5 kids at home and a mommy in jail would not be good lol.

Well, I think you should print this out and show it to the officer. I say you should be new owner of beardie by shere vote..lol.
Seriously though I hope everything works out and you get beardie. Obviouly would be in better hands with you!

Well I didnt get to bring him home but he went to a good home!!! 2 ASPCA officers and a vet of theirs went and checked on him and all their other animals. The beardie got placed with a lady who specializes in reptiles especially beardies and other lizards and she is going to give him an excellent home and get him all better and promised to make him happy and healthy!!!!! So even though we didnt get him I am very very happy with the outcome!!!!!!!! And as I told my hubby this store and others havent seen the last of us I would do it all over again in heartbeat.
