Ok, just got home from the vet, had to pick up crix last week due to running low on bulk order. Long story short, they were half dead and smelled like SH_T. Needless to say my Taz is riddled w/ Chrocochia or how ever you spell it. Anyway, my question is, How do you administer Albon? he just closes his eyes and turns his head. Is there a trick? HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

Hello,

Did the vet give you a prescription for Albon? If so, what is the amount of Albon that he dosed your dragon for? What does the label say, such as mg/ml or percentage of the solution?
The crickets most likely got him sick unfortunately, if they were THAT bad. The petstore crickets are normally not very good.
The best way to administer the meds is to use a plastic dropper or syringe & just either drip it onto the end of his nose for him to lick off or, you will need to try & get his mouth open so you can get it in quickly that way.
How old is your dragon?

Yes, the vet did prescribe ALBON @ 1/10 ml a day for 10 days follwed by yogurt. The dosing isn't the problem, just couldn't figure how to get him to open his mouth. Also, how long til i see a turn around in his appetite and health?

Wrap your beardie in a towel and gently press the syringe towards the back of the mouth, when you beardie opens up shoot it in their but you need to be quick about it! Also the appetite you should start to see changes towards the end of the Albon cycle! Just make sure you give the yogurt after the Albon cause it will help your beardies tummy feel better! Good luck...

Here is an update. So i come home today to find Tz roaming around the bottom of his tank. My wife told me he just came down and other then his bath, meds, yogurt and baby food, it is the only time he came down all day. It almost looked as if he were searching for food. So I walked over to the fridge and threw in some collard greens. He actually ate it, so I threw in like a handful. He also ate that. I tried 3 crix to see if it inticed him, but no such luck. I am hopeing that after 4 days of Albon, Taz is finally making a turn around. Lets hope this keeps up.

ok im guessing im gonna have the same problem after tomorrows vet visit, i got the soy yogurt today all they had was strawberry and peach flavor is that ok . and do i give yogurt everyday after the albon does or after the 10 days of dosing/ :study: and what is yall opinion on reptaid :?:

I am sure those flavors are okay. I personally would have given him yogurt with the treatment of Albon. Reptaid has antibiotic tendencies, therefore, soy yogurt should be given at the same time. I know some people will disagree with this statement but I did have a conversation regarding reptaid with my experienced reptile vet and that is what he told me.

If he got sick because of the crickets, he may not want crickets for a while. Can you get some other feeder such as dubia roaches? Those are so much better than crickets.

its funny that you say that cause he looks @ the crix like this is all your fault. Also i am giving the yogurt 2 hrs after the albon. I just gave him another 2 teaspoons of babyfood mixed w/ calcium poweder as well.

Yeah, beardies are so smart.... My oldest female got sick on silkies when she was a baby, she has never ate them again. :shock: BTW, she is 4 y/o now. :lol:

6 days into his Arbon prescription, not really showing any signs of improvement. We pretty much have to force him to eat through a syrnge i am bathing him a couple times a day for hydration and even giving him a couple of cc's of water through a syringe. he pretty much just lays there on his log with his head down and his eyes closed most of the time. I am not too sure he will recover.

Give it time! The antibiotics are hard on their systems. Your pooper should come around. Good luck.

thanks lance, i hope your right. I also switched to the mega ray 160 which @ 17" away was not hot enough, so i added a flex desk lamp w/ a 50w spot so my basking temp is 109, just not sure if the spot is too harsh and should switch to a flood.

Update, We finished the cycle of albon today. That stuff should be outlawed. I am not sure what is going on. Taz still has no appetite at all, we are feeding him chicken and or squash w/ a syringe still mixed w/ calcium powder. Yesterday he became very lithargic and eventually threw up what little that was inside of him. Today my wife picked up and administered repta-aid. all Taz is doing is sleeping, when you pick him up he is almost lifless and barely even opens his eyes. Very open to suggestions here.
