overdose of reptaid

overdose on reptaid cannoli weighs just under 400 grams and i accidently gave him around 1.5 ml of reptaid.(first time giving it to him). i had two in the syringe then i realized i was giving him too much.. i dont know how i let this slip but it did and now i dont know what to do is he going to die.. god i hope i didnt kill him

I hope everything is okay for you, that has to be so scary. My beardie is sick right now too and I constantly worry I am going to lose him. Keep me posted please.

i am not an expert, but i would think you will be ok. usually when a vet prescribes something the 1st dosage is usually higher then norm to help get it in the system faster. I also think @ 400 grams this is not a baby you are dealing w/ so may be a little more hardy. hopefully someone more knowlegable responds.

just to keep everyone up to date. its been about 4 hours now since i overloaded cannoli with reptaid. everything seems to be going fine. i talked with elliot the supplier he said to syringe a lil. bit of water into him which i did with very little fight. suprising seeing how last time he had a syringe he was overloaded and spazzed out. which is when i realized i had given him too much. almost 2.5 as opposed to .025 so hopefully by morning we will know how ok he will really be.. ill let everyone know how he is before lights out one hour from now. and again in the after work tomorrow thanks for all the concerns and help everyone !

I am sorry to hear about your situation.We really have not had to much experience with overdosing on reptaid since it is a fairly new product however based on its contents and like medicines the first course of action whould have been to flush the system with water so it was good that you gave him some.I do recommend strongly that you continue to do so and bathe him daily.The idea is to flush his kidneys out so it doesnt rise to toxic levels.I also recommend that for a day or so you hold off on any hard to digest items(feeders)and stick with soft bodied worms and babyfood.You want to let his body work as little as it has to.All of this is just precautionary of course and as long as he is behaving normally I wouldnt freak out.Keep us posted on how he is doing.

I already emailed Bobby about this as he contacted me directly. His dragon will be fine. The dose he gave was 4x what would have been correct but I assured Bobby that the dragon will be fine. There have been people who gave too much reptaid before without any adverse affects. And when we have a very sick animal we intentionally double upon the dose and usually use it twice a day.
I told Bobby to give the dragon about 1ml of water and keep me posted.

Thanks for responding Elliot. As I said I recommend he do those things as a precaution.I do agree he will probably be fine but better safe then sorry.

I gave Rosie 3 drops of the xl reptaid once. I found out later I should have only given her one drop because of her weight. She was fine, she never had any health problems.

i just looked at the syringes and 1.5 is def alot
how did you confuse that much with the .4 thats supposed to be given for that weight ?
and i was going to say that on the bottle it says that even if you do give your reptile a bit more of it it wont effect it but thats alot more so im not sure :/
