Over 16" how about Superworms now????

Merlin's over 16" now and lately he seems to be slowing down on eating his crickets. I introduced superworms to him just to see if he likes them or not and he really goes after them. Is anyone out there using supers for a staple? Anyone not like them for a staple? Just looking for some opinions... yes, Janie, I know Dubias... I'd do them in a heart beat but the husband already doesn't like having a lizard in the house and I know just the word
roach is going to go over really bad!

i use them as a staple. Just introduce them in steps. A few more supers and a few less crickets until you're at all supers is the best way.

I have been using suppers as a staple for about 5 months and they work great. I do decapitate them though because it bothers me that the head will still move around for hours after it has been cut off. If some of the legs are attached to the decapitated head it will actually climb around. I worry that it could bite the insides of my beardie :shock: So even though I may just be a worry wart I figure better safe than sorry.
Finally got the hubby to buy some dubias when we were at the reptile show last weekend, so we are going to add them to her diet now too. First day of the show he was like, NO WAY. But then after getting him to talk to several breeders that use them and having to hear crix in the hotel room chirp all night that he had picked up he had a change of heart. Double yuck to the head staying alive that long.... They sure aren't anything that I could grow fond of. I will not handle them with my bare hands. Merlin eats them very enthusiasticly so they must taste good. I bought him wax worms for a treat and he totally disliked them. I ended up with a tub full of moths. Darn him....
