I got Sweetie from my son & d-i-l, the local pet shop moved out of town just after they got married, so she only got zuccini, romaine lettuce & carrots. I was asked to babysit her while they went to visit her parents for 2 weeks, but I never gave her back. I've got a pic of her when we got her, the vine beside her is an inch around, so it gives a good idea:
4 months old:

and 1 month later on the same vine :D :

She had MBD in her back legs, so I gave her lots of baths so she'd jump, plus liquid calcium & that really helped.

Your boy is going to be fine, just as long as he gets lots of calcium & vit/min, like you did with Daisy, to make up some of the neglect. Just let him eat as many bugs & salad as he'll take, as he does have time to make up for. And within a month you'll see a big different

Gives you an idea how beardies can make up for lost time. By the time she was 2 yrs old she was 18" long & over 500g, so you see, even if they start at a disadvantage there's plenty of time to make up. You'll see, you should start a chart, just to see how it goes day by day, or even weekly, weight & length. And let me know, I'm really curious how he manages.

Yeah I will for sure! I"ll go try to weigh him and measure him now, then it's bath time! lol He's actually not as squirmy as the guy we got him from was saying, not with me at least. He was cuddling with me last night, I'll post pics once they're uploaded to photobucket!

Oh that's so great that he's already cuddling, different energy from you than the guy who originally owned him. Beardies are sensitive to energy just like dogs, the calmer you are, the better they want to cuddle. And you obviously have the right energy! You'll have the babies cuddling next!

He's definitely got some growing to do, he's way too skinny. That weight is more for a 3 mo old, so let him eat all he can stand twice a day if possible, that will go a long way to getting weight on him. What was his owner thinking? At this age & before they should be eating at least 50 if not more crickets per day. And make sure they're not bigger than the space between his eyes. At this age, he'd normally be about 14-16" long & soon to start eating supers. So crickets & do you have any other bugs, soft worms you could feed him? Silkworms & hornworms would be great, but a medium size, not adults yet. Keep us all posted, I"m sure once he's got some good bugs & greens in him he'll start growing & growing & growing. I could tell he was underweight as his feet looked too big for him!

:( poor little guy. I've gotten him to eat about 10 crickets today so far, I'll try giving him some more later too when I feed my babies again. I've got really small ones for my babies, but there are still quite a few I would consider too big for them so those are what I've been feeding Blaze :p Oh and I've also gotten him to drink a whole lot of water since I got him, first time I gave him some he went nuts for it, he was/is probably dehydrated a bit :( Sad part is, I'm pretty sure his previous owner is some type of "breeder", not of bearded dragons though (which is why I have Blaze now, thank goodness) but of boas and other stuff like mice and rats I think, poor lil critters. But I guess if he's breeding mice, his boas will be well fed at least...

I've heard that translucents get really dehydrated very quickly, so giving him LOTS of water would be important, glad he's drinking. His appetite will get better. I recently got some bee pollen, it comes in granules that melt in water, so I've been putting 1/2 tsp in a small bowl filled with warm water & feeding it to my beardies. I just started it, but it may be good for your little guy. There's a web site of a lady in Northern Manitoba here in Canada that has alot of info on health things to give beardies to help with growing & health. I'll look up her website & give it to you. I have to get out for a bit, but will check it out when I get back.

Oh really? Oh the many new things I learn everyday...lol :) I make sure my babies get lots of water and so I usually offer some to everyone else too, they all seem to love the needless syringe method. I gave him a good long soaking today too in a really tall bin since he kept jumping and he can jump really high lol He drank in the bath as well, and drank from the syringe earlier this morning so I hope that helps him out a bit. I'd love to check out the website, thanks! I'm going to search bee pollen for now lol

I can grab a few hornworms tomorrow, they're just so expensive!

I know, I haven't gotten any yet, they're like $1.79 each up here & I only know one place nearby who sells them. I may pick up a couple tomorrow, they're open until 7p, I'll see. I don't want them to get used to them as they would only be treats.

Blaze keeps arm waving!!! It's so weird. The past two evenings he's done it. He'll lift one arm slowly then bring it back down slowly, then do the same with the other arm, then repeat! Over and over and over! He's been doing it for like 10 mins now. He's just standing at his basking spot too, not hunting or in site of another beardie. Why is he doing this?!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
