Hi,

Yes, definitely! She said as the swellings are still soft and there have been no new ones, hopefully we can get these under control.

I have still been bathing Stan every morning for ten minutes or so, I'll definitely keep this up, and when he doesn't take fluids on his own, I have been syringing straight into his mouth (this has the added minerals and probiotic).

I will keep you all posted!

Thank you,
Emma

Glad you got a second opinion with another vet. I wonder what happened for him to get it in 3 legs? I think Nioka fell off his cork bark and hit his jaw (he lost a tooth) and that's how he got it.

Metacalm was what I used for Nioka, I remember now. But it wasn't injected, I gave it by syringe. Perhaps injecting it is more effective, I don't know.

Hope Stan starts to get better soon, keeping my fingers crossed for him. Are you to take him back soon for another x-ray?

I have no idea :( he has swelling in all of his legs, but worse in the two left ones, and a little lump in his tail. I just hope the meds start to kick in soon. The vet did say that injecting is more direct.

But Stan is actually moving his left leg a little, which he couldn't move at all last week, so I just pray that he will fully recover.

I've got two week's worth of meds so far so I'll assess his swelling after that and if he needs to be looked at again then I'll take him in.

Hello Emma,

That is great he is using his leg a little bit today. I hope he can make a full recovery.
It sounds like Stan is full of spirit!
The injections are very direct & they don't have to be broken down twice in the liver like the oral medications do.

Keep us posted on him.

Tonight, Stan has had some baby food mixed with his calcium supplement and a little Reptoboost. I had to syringe a little straight into his mouth, but he then started licking it off the syringe himself. He also had his daily colloidal silver. I'm finding it quite easy to inject him, which is a plus, and he doesn't mind it too much.

I'm really pleased as, although he still has bad swelling on his left knee, his leg seems to be working so much better- he walked across my bed using his leg, and he's been using it when he climbs up me to sleep :)

So looking positive, but until I see the swelling start to go down I'm just going to remain cautious.

Glad you're seeing some positive results! It might take a while, but looks like he's in good hands with this new vet and yourself! Great stuff :)

Hello Emma,

Awesome, it sounds like Stan is improving. :D It is good to remain cautious but at least you are seeing the swelling going down now. I am happy to hear he is using his leg more now, so he must be feeling better.
It does get a little better or easier to do the injections once you get used to them.
Keep us posted on him!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
