Orange Liquid Coming From Nose & Mouth

Hello, I have a 4 month old bearded dragon. Everyday I have him out for at least 20-30 minutes letting him run around and what not until today I had him out and I noticed that he had like an orange liquid type substance coming from his nose. Without thinking I picked him up and put him in the bath (of course with the required bath water temperature). I cleaned all the stuff off of him and I notice some was in his mouth so I got a eyedropper and washed his mouth out. There was chucks of stuff such as human vomit. My thoughts are he could have a upper respirator infection but I really do not know. Hope you guys can help me! If any more information is needing, I'm ready to answer them to the best of my knowledge. Thank you guys!

P.S. He is active and responsive but his entrails seem to be lower than normal and also he's breathing seems to be slower than normal as well.

Hello,

That doesn't sound good, but, what has he been eating/drinking recently?
What type of supplementation is he getting?
Are you keeping his basking at a range of 95-110 measured with either a temp gun or digital probe?
You can post pictures of him & his set up too so we can take a look.
Are you using sand substrate that is orange or a solid substrate?
Please review the setup with us such as the UVB lighting, temperatures & supplementation.

Thanks for the reply Tracie!

His daily breakfast is occassionaly 30 mealworms. Sometimes if I do not have any mealworms I give Fluker's Buffet Blend for Juvenile Beardies. His daily lunch is a handful of shredded collards with diced sweet peppers mixed together and with a light coat of Fluker's Calcium with Vitamin D3 over the top. I also put the calcium dust on the mealworms / buffet blend as well.

His basking area sets at 105 measured using laser temperature gun but I also have a temperature gauge in his vivarium that obviously isn't so accurate.

I use a solid substrate (floor tail).

P.S. I'm in the process of upgrading his setup by building a 120 gallon tank; blueprint here:

Once again, thanks so much!

Hi. Just wanted to say 30 super worms are way to many and should only be fed to adults. 16 inches or more. Better feeders for him are crickets, dubia roaches, Phoenix worms , silk worms and butter worms. He's a looker :D

Sorry I've mistaken mealworms for superworms, lol yes I realized mealworms and superworms aren't good for juvenile beardies after I watched multiple videos about not feeding them to your beardies because it can cause many problems for them and after I get through this buffet mix (which I almost are) I'm totally going to begin to buy him crickets or maybe even the other feeders you listed. Lol, thanks! :D and yes, he really is photogenic

If you live in Florida or another state where the keeping of dubia roaches is illegal, you can also try to get some discoid roaches. They are just as good and still very popular. Many places sell dubia or discoid, but ALWAYS check the law first!

Hello,

Definitely cut back on the mealies for him. They could have upset his system a bit.
The superworms or zophoba worms should only be fed really once he is 16 inches in length to avoid impaction.
At his age, small crickets which are smaller than the space between his eyes or the roaches are great for him, too.
How is he doing today?

Hi Tracie,

Yes I totally understand now not to feed young beardies mealworms/superworms or basically anything bigger than the space between their eyes.

Actually he seem perfectly normal as if nothing happened.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
