Do you guys think that a 16-17 inch 16 or so month old beardie is a good size? He has been in a bit bigger than a 4X2X2 for 3/4 of his life. And he is also healthy, he is weighing in @ approx. 563 grams.
doesent seem to bad. diffrent dragons can be diffrent sizes kinda like people. i have one dragon who has a small tail nip who is 15" and 480 grams. i have a almost 5 month old dragon who is 16" and 200 grams
I agree with the previous post as long as he is happy and healthy size doesn't matter. He's a little short, but I am sure what he lacks in size he will make up for in attitude. Maybe you could nickname him Napoleon if he doesn't grow any larger. Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be more fun to have a male since Scorch is so laid back and we don't get any of the fun hormonal antics of head bobbing etc. Fortunately our tegu provides plenty of antics to keep me busy.
I have a 20" female that is about the same age as yours. My husband is always telling me to measure her cause he's sure she's grown and worried that she doesn't eat enough, being winter and all, but I tried to weigh her the other day and the scale just read error. My scale only goes to 500 grams. So I weighed her on my house scale for people and it said 1.4 lbs. what a fatty!! I don't know exactly how many grams that is, I think around 650.
Body weight seems to be good, but I agree that he's a shorty! My 6 month old females are 18 inches and the other one is 18 1/2 inches...I have a male that is on the short side, he's about the same age as my girls but 17 1/2 inches...As long as he's happy and healthy!
I love my bearded Dragon, but I for some reason wish he was bigger, even though I am fine with his size, I think bigger would be cool But thanks a lot guys, you erased my paranoia.... for now lol...
well my 14 1/2 month old dragon (ok my daughters dragon) is just a smidgen over 17" long and 453 grams or 1lb. So I dont view that as short. The vet said mine might not grow much longer due to her mbd issues she was probably "born" with.
