Bugsy, I agree it will take a few days for her system to adjust to a new feeder, but she should have no problems digesting the roaches. Their exoskelatin is much softer and more digestable than crickets or supers. Plus, their nutritional value is way better! Give your girl a nice warm bath and you may get that long awaited poo to happen! As long as she's basking, eating and alert, you have nothing to worry about.
Well she had a massive poop today! but i think she doesn't like them! i keep the feeders in see-through plastic containers, and when i got the two tubs out she ran to the locusts and wouldn't entertain the thought of roaches. She had one then refused to eat anymore! ive only got 6 locust left and about 30 roaches so i guess she'll just have to like them for now lol!!
Hahaha I so remember my first order from the roachguy.com. I thought OMG I must have had a brain cramp when I ordered these. I had to have my kids pick them up for me so I could feed my beardie. hahaha
And now I sell them and have billions of them. They are fabulous breeders, food for your reptiles, they don't smell or make any noise.
Patty, I agree! The first box I opened I was a little freaked! I thought that I must have really gone crazy for bringing these big creepy things into my house!!!! LOL The first big adult I saw sent shivers down my back! I still don't touch them, but I'm really glad I got them. They have turned out to be so easy to keep, awesome feeders and the bonus is NO SMELL!!! I hate the smell of crickets!
Bugsy, your dragon will get used to her new bugs. Give it time. She's used to locusts, so once she has to eat the dubias, she'll enjoy them more.
Well guys , Am very happy today i just place a order of 700 dubias from the famous Theroachguy,i cant wait to get them, my babes are going to be very happy, i have 6 babes tinkerbell, angel, boots, bella, rojo(red in spanish) and white cloud.......am in love with my dragons cant get enough..... :love5: :love10: :laughing6:
Culin, you are going to be thrilled with the bugs from Jason. Your dragons are gonna love them! And, Jason's a great guy, he'll get you started! All three of our forum member/roach vendors are terrific, so you can't go wrong getting bugs from any of them. You won't regret it and you certainly won't miss the crickets!
Dee, I'm not sure if it's illegal to have dubias in Canada. They are not consider to be a pest species as they are tropical bugs and can't survive and multiply if they escape. US and Canadian weather isn't appropriate for them to survive as a wild roach. Check into the laws there to see if they can be shipped or brought in. I am not aware of any canadian vendors who sell dubias.
Dee, that is a bummer! If officials really looked at the species closely, they'd find that they are in no way a pest species or an invasive species. Sucks that you can't get them.
