Odd behavior.

Tank set up, substrate repticarpet basking heat 105-109 feed crickets and greens, cold side temp, is about 85 and we have a zoo med 10.0 bulb (not coil) for his UVB 40 gallon tank

Yoshi is about 5 (6 at most, he was maybe 5-10 grams when we got him) months old (from what we can guess, we brought him home august 5th from a pet store) I wieghed him the other day and he was 330 grams although his appetite has decreased he has not lost weight . Here is where it gets odd.

One day he is all over the place running from one side of his tank to the other and basking in between Window surfing the whole nine yards. The next day he just hides all day doesn't eat, and is darker than normal all day, I'd say it's about a 50/50 mix of days he is hiding and then acting normal. His (or her) lights are off from about 8pm-730 ish am. He was at the vet once in october and had a fecal and everything came back clear. I don't know how urgent this really is, because sometimes he acts great and other he is just grumpy and doesn't act like him self (or her)

I know I need to take him in to the vet but I would like some input as to how urgent it is, because well money is tight.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not any expert by any means and I'm a new dragon owner myself but maybe burmation? Just an idea thrown out there.

At that age, he won't brumate, but it is very likely that it is just a winter cooldown. Sounds like your set up is just fine. Sometimes if you just place him on his basking spot in the morning rather than letting him hide, he may perk up. I don't think you need a vet visit at the moment at all. It is also possible he is just beginning to get ready to shed, and you just can't see it yet.

Thank you both yoshi is about to go through a shed, and when I place him on his rock in normally does make him more active. I think because I bought a smaller size cricket he might not be interested in them like he normally would be.

I do have one other question now though, yoshi just pooped while I had him out of his cage, and he had urates that were normal (very moist soft and white) but towards the end of the irate it was tinted a brownish red. IDK if thats normal, but then on the regular poop part it had little streaks of white. I watched to see if the were moving (I feel so weird saying that) and it didn't appear to be. does that sound healthy? It wasn't any more stinky than normal but because he is eating less he is pooping less often. but this was a big poop. Sorry for all the tmi.
