It's funny you say that... Ahem..... Odahviing may be the DovahQueen of Pittsburgh instead of DovahKing...... We're not sure yet. The base of tail bit is starting to look a little girlie. >.< There's another beardie, named Dovah, on here. He's a handsome boy too.

Yeah I've seen Dovah, and he is a cutie. I used this site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjVo8oZ5r1I to help me learn to sex beardies, even at young ages. Mine is about 3 months old and I'm almost positive she's a girl.

He/she is a beauty, don't be shy with more pictures!

Yeah... I REALLY think Odahviing's a she!! No sign of an indentation up the center of the tail, there's a low, triangle shaped mound directly above the vent and "her" femoral pores are visible but small, like tiny pin pricks. Hubby's a little upset.. All six cats are female too.. At eight and a half weeks I'd figure there'd be a sign of hemipenes by now? Well, according to pics and that video (thanks, SilverMoon!)

Well, she shed. Like crazy. Poor thing. I gave scritches on her chin, and she lifted and tilted her head like a cat. I think she smiled and would have purred..

The colour after this first shed have been amazing. She's gotten so frisky too. She was very quiet the days before and yesterday, then today she ate like mad and played with her lizard friend next door (reflection). We had snuggles, and she tucked away a ton of greens. She's very photogenic but challenging because of her size and lack of my ability to circle her.

I usually move around my subjects and move lighting, etc. I can't with her because I feel the need to have her on me or penned up. The purple backed shots are my knee. I shot with a macro lens, flash bounce, filter and lighting support. That's why I got such great colour. It's all her from there, little love. She's a beauty. <3<3<3

It's been just amazing watching her (him?) grow.. Seriously.. The little "triangle" looks like two "bumps jammed together" now........ >.> I've decided to revert to a default "he" pronoun because we're accustomed to it. Good grief!!

He's gotten "jowly" now, and his lids have gotten a little fattier. His head is very triangular shaped. He's also getting a very beardie body shape. It's amazing. He is not the same lizard he was five weeks ago! He's crested seven inches and twenty grams. I can't believe it! I love it. Our little guy is growing so fast.

Of his beardie Booty? Hah!! I should do that! Get my Hubby to hold him after I teach him how to do the 90° bend. I'm sort of mistress of the critters around here. He loves them all, I just do all the husbandry.

I know I've shared this first photo back from January 9th already in this thread. However, I wanted to "reshare it" side by side with today's photo!

Odahviing is turning into such a cuddler. He's super affectionate. It's amazing, frankly. I had no idea a reptile could ever be this way! He crawled into my hand and snuggled in with his happy, full belly after he cuddled on the heating pad for his daily greens. I scritched his cheek by his ear hole, like he's come to LOVE, and he smiled like that and fell asleep. After I stopped to take the picture and Tweet it he lifted his head and opened his eyes to stare at me. I asked him, "What?!" He let out a MASSIVE deep breath-huff. I laughed and went back to petting him. He put his head back down and went back to sleep. I think he believes he's a cat. He does that funny huff thing whenever he's not done being petted, and I don't resume it fast enough. He likes to look at me over his shoulder, or tilt his head to peer. He always gives me the "chance" to give him more lovings before hitting me with the "huff-puff" of beardie dissatisfaction. I love it!!

I just can't believe I took this tiny lizard, barely four inches if even that, with his bitty hurt hand and way to skinny body and have gotten him to over seven inches and 23 grams since CHRISTMAS with nothing but you guys and the rest of the internet. All with no preplanning and at the drop of a hat. I was scared I was going to kill this little guy!! I was terrified I was going to do something wrong! Now I'm sprinkling tiny superworms with vitamins and calcium, making sure he gets enough UVB light, checking so many temperatures in different spots, tempting him with greens and hornworms and silkworms and Phoenix worms and all the lovings I can manage! And baths! So many baths! Panacur and acidophilus! ReptaBoost and baby food! Snugglings! Heating pads! Oh my! :love5:

<3<3<3 I know! I love it! I'm keeping him pretty full the last three weeks. He's been pooing a lot, and I've been trying to keep that going. It's what I've done in the past with mammals with parasites, so I'm following the same credo with him. Food, since he's growing anyway, and baths, so he doesn't recontaminate his viv. I work from home, so it's made things SO much easier!

Yes we gave our Chief unlimited protein. We got him at 10 days old and he blew up into a giant dragon. At 3 months we took him to a Repti-Con and was able to compare him to his sister and he was literally twice as big.

Your Odahviing looks like a cat in the fat-belly picture. Like a purring cat.

You know, I think that's why I've bonded so fiercely with him. Part because he was SO tiny and hurt when we first got him. I had instant 'momma' instincts over him. Also because I'm really a cat person at heart. I love ALL animals, but cats are my special creatures. He just has taken to kitty scritches. He likes his cheeks and chin rubbed. I actually do rub him exactly like one of the cats. He even hunts like the cats when I let a larger silkworm loose outside his viv. He stalks. I swear. If he hunkers down and wiggles his butt, that's it. We're getting his DNA tested.

Now, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm wrong on his age. I knew you guys got Chief super young, how big was he, like in inches? Do you recall? It's challenging to tell from photos. I just see some folks with much larger dragons at two months and am wondering if Odahviing maybe WASN'T four weeks old on Christmas eve like we thought. It's so hard to pinpoint with PetSmart. Some of their stores are AWFUL with care of in-store animals. Some aren't so bad. Some are wonderful. This one didn't know much regarding origin aside from him being from Sandfire. I need a birthday people!! Don't you understand? We celebrate in this house!

Aww he looks so peaceful and content. I know what you mean, I never thought I would be snuggling with a bearded dragon every night. Never in a million years thought I could love a scaley baby with every fiber of my being, and one could show me so much love in return. I don't care what people say, these creatures do love, evidence of that is in your picture right down to the look on his little face!

Honestly, it really is hard to tell age by size. So many times I have heard that pet stores won't feed as much as we would feed them at home, so they grow slower. There has been a clutch at a local store that was several months old but barely looked 3 weeks old and the store worker was feeding them as much as other growing clutches!

I can't remember how big Chief was when we got him, but he was one of the larger dragons in the clutch. We wanted a big boy. He was small enough to fit along my finger like a little baby, less than 5" from snout to tail tip, but I'd have to look back and see for sure!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
