I have had my beardie for 3 days now, and he has yet to poop or pee that i can tell, is that an issue? I have also givin him a bath to help with this digestive system and bowel system. What else can i do???
IF you jsut got him it could be because of stress. I know that Elliott didn't poop for a few days when I first got him because of that. But once he did, oh my...... As Heidi from Caliente Dragons told me, be careful what you wish for! HA! Now he poops almost daily. In the mean time just give him a nice warm bath for about 20 minutes and give him a little belly rub under his right arm pit working your way down towards his vent. One way to find out if there is anything environmentally wrong would be to answer the following questions....
How old is your dragon?
How long have you had your dragon?
How long is your dragon?
What is the sex of your dragon?
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank?
Do you use UVB lights?
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb?
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)?
How old is your UVB bulb?
How close can your dragon get to the UVB?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps?
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad?
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)?
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc?
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them?
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)?
Do you bath your dragon? How often?
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath?
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon?
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done?
Puff wouldn't poop for me for a WHILE... My vet says to make the water about 80'.... Where you can withstand it on your wrist... Put the dragon in it for a while.. i would sit in the bathroom on the floor and just watch puff.... until she went.. sometimes it would be like 30 mins... but eventually she went, and then we didn't have a problem after that.
Any time i notice her not going, back in the tub she goes!
Thank You very much, im glad im not the only one that is having these kinda issues, makes me feel a little less stressed! since ive had him, i have done nothing but worry about the lighting, the food, the temp, everything that goes into maintaining a healthy beardie! But thank you very much for your comments!
LOL... Isn't poo wonderful ! As long as your dragon poos daily (while under 12 months old) you are fine. It means he/she is eating. I too went through this with Gemini, but now he is an eating machine and quickly catching up in weight, though is longer than my other who is a day older, and my 9-10 month old.
Hugs, they just loooooooooove to stress us out !
