Not eating?

So Mohinder has been lovely in my 2 months of owning him, but these past few days he hasn't been eating. Still pooping, but not eating. He's about to finish shedding (just noticed his feet are still "shed color"). His basking temps are right where they need to be, he has a reptisun 10.0 tube, 40 gallon tank. His humidity is a bit high, which i was thinking could possibly be it, and if so what can I do to bring it down?

One of the only things different is that I switched from using a 10.0 coil bulb to a tube finally about 2 weeks ago and last week i switched his staple from buttnernut and acorn squash to collar/mustard/turnip greens. He won't eat the greens or the crickets I give him and I was just going to wait it out and see if he'd start eating again on his own, but he's starting to worry me. Everytime i pull him out he starts falling asleep and doesnt run around much like he used to, I was kinda thinking it might be brumnation, but he seems a little young considering I think he's only about 7 months or so. Any ideas?

I suppose it could be a few things. It could be the shed but if it's just his legs then it shouldn't bother him too much. To keep the humidity down don't keep a water bowl in the tank and don't mist him in the tank. It could be winter slowdown I think someone called it. Similar to Brumation, they just slow down a bit. I have heard of some dragons getting stressed out when you change their cage around. That could be it combined with a new diet. I'd give it a couple days and see where it goes. Does he eat anything at all?

I don't believe he is, if he has it's been too little for me to see when I come home, it looks like the same amount that I've been giving him. And I don't have any standing water and I give him baths instead of misting, so I have no idea where all this humidity is coming from. It's at about 50%, between moderate and semi-tropical. I don't know if that's like alarmingly high, but I don't know what to do to get it to go down.

I think the good number for humidity is around 40%. I wouldn't panic with 50%, but if there is nothing in the cage to add to the humidity in your house then your house is just that humid. If it gets higher maybe consider buying a dehumidifier to help. As for him not eating, just keep trying I suppose. I'm having issues with Lightning eating as well and it is frustrating. Between Brumation, winter slowdown or just being stubborn/picky it's hard to tell whats up. Maybe someone will have a suggestion. In the meantime try searching the forum. There are plenty of threads with this exact issue so maybe you will find an idea there that will work for you :)

About the Humidity, 50% is way to High, and 40% is too. Beardies need Little to No Humidity at all! It will cause a URI "Upper Respiratory Infection", which can be fatal if not treated properly and fast enough. Beardies are from Hot Dry Arid Forest in Australia, so you really want No Humidity at all.
And yes, 7 month's old is to young for Brumation. I know when my 4 Month Old 15 Inch Long Female start's to shed she doesn't eat as much as she normally would.

What are the Temps in your Enclosure??

Thanks for the correction. I actually looked up that number on another site. Apparently it's wrong. :)

So a dehumidifier will help get that down? Any specific kind to look for? And his basking temps tend to go between 90-100 on days with no sun and up to 105 when there's sun coming in and his cool side stays at about 80 constantly during the day

Hi,

Is your beardie still not eating? I am having the EXACT same problem... And judging by my thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=186538&p=1499509#p1499509, a few other people do too.. That is weird how all our beardies are almost the same age and suddenly stopped eating! Mine has stopped eating live feeders completely a few days ago, still eats a tiny bit of his salad. I think I 'll take him to the vet tomorrow. Hoping that he will poop at least a little today (no poop since Saturday because he hasn't been eating anything) so that the vet can also do a fecal test for parasites.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
