Hello all, I'm new to the forum, and am in dire need of some information.
I got my juvenile, female bearded dragon a few months ago from a woman at my boyfriend's place of employment, whose son wasn't taking proper care of her.
She came with a 30 gallon ( I believe ) tank, a heating lamp, and an EXO-TERRA Repti Glo 10.0 UVB. It says it's 26W, 120V, 60HZ. ( Coiled ) Both are in lamps with clamps, and the top of her aquarium was custom made to fit these out of plywood & mesh. The heating lamp sits on one end, the UVB on the other.
Tank temperature is usually around 91 at the high side at this time of year, and 68 on the lower side, read from a digital thermometer.
Everything has been great with her, but, in the last month or so, she has become increasingly clumsy. I was told that this is normal for beardies, and thought nothing of it.
But, recently, she has become even more uncoordinated, and has even been rolling over. Not just onto her back, she rolls over & over & over.
She also has become uninterested in her greens & fruit, but, still eats crickets with a good appetite.
She's also becoming more sluggish than normal over the last few days. She will move around to eat crickets, and if I have her out, but, it seems as though she's sleeping in her tank more & more.
At first I thought the calcium sand which was supposed to be fully digestible might have been the problem, so, I dumped it out, laid down paper towels, gave her a warm bath, and fed her a cricket dipped in olive oil with the success of her pooping today. I was glad for that.
I've been posting about this on another forum, and they are suggesting that I change her UV bulb, and I don't know how old it is. I am going out to get her a new UV bulb today.
( I know that the bulb she has isn't the best, but, I can't afford to get her a hood & different lighting until next month, and we're also getting her a bigger tank, so, I don't want to have to buy twice. )
So, her symptoms are increased clumsiness, rolling over ( barrel rolls ), sluggishness, and loss of appetite for greens & fruit.
Thanks in advance for any advice, I just want my beardie to feel better.
