Ok say I plan on getting my dragon from petsmart. They swear they know what their talking about and judging by these forums I'm reading they have no clue. These questions are in a lot form. When dusting the critters I will be feeding the dragon how much is enough? Are we talking a matter of taking a pinch and sprinkling it? Next do you guys have a decent DIY on building enclosures I saw some I really like. I currently have a 55 gal and their were some people on here that let me know beardies can out grow this in 6 months if they are growing really well. We try to keep our house at around 70 degrees is there any reason for me to get a CHE? Also I like the idea of using floor tile. What silicone can yall recommend because I want to take some rocks and put them on there and maybe put a light sand coating on it so that the dragon can get traction when hunting. BTW this information could be helpful the dragon I want I'd going to be a little one. I really want my dragon to have that yell orange color to him is there anyway to predict the color of them? The ones at petsmart look dark colored not that it's a problem I will be happy and lovey dragon no matter what color it is. Any and all help and any advice at all will be much appreciated.

Hi! Let me see if I can shed some light for you. :)

1. As far as dusting your dragon's food, I like to put the powder in with my insects in a separate container and shake until they are covered in the stuff completely (it also makes them dizzy/easier to catch).

2. I recommend the Webe Reptile DIY Enclosure video on Youtube.

3. I don't recommend a 55 gallon if it's the one meant for fish. They need more width than height, and 55's are very skinny and tall. I've never heard of them outgrowing it, just that it's not great for them to live in period.

4. If you wanted to use a night time heat light, I'd only do it if you see your dragon wants it. (A.K.A. turning black in the mornings to hold in heat.) Otherwise, they can be fine down to 65 degrees.

5. Tile is what we use for our babies for flooring, but only a couple pieces to keep their nails filed. Otherwise, they just walk on the wood.

6. If you're going to use silicone, use the stuff meant for animals. (It's like eco or pet silicone used for fish tanks)

7. And you can't really tell the colors of your beardie too well just by looking at them. A general rule is that they will get brighter over time, but there are exceptions. Our boy came home brown and is now citrus with violet barring.

Hope that helped! :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
