New vivs coming, Need help with basking fixtures

With the addition of Ember in the next few weeks (whenever she is ready to ship, and Rea knows when that will be ), I decided that I needed some more space in the reptile side of my room. Dresden is getting bigger and I know he'll soon be cramped in his 40B, and Nezzie is in a 4x2 glass Critter Cage on a stand that doesn't have much room underneath it and getting into is a pain. SO! I decided that stacking vivs would be in order. I had a friend who could have helped me build them, but he's too busy to work on it right now. I ordered 3 melamine cages from BoaMaster.com.

They should be coming in the next couple weeks based on the conversation I had with Mark. My question is this. I have no idea how to set up the basking lights. I've looked at the instructions for Crossfire, but I have no idea what materials to get for the basking spot. I love how Jess has her set up for Dudley's viv. Any idea on what materials I need to get?

There are instructions for DIY rocks/basking spots somewhere. Sorry I'm on my phone. Basically they are made of Styrofoam put together with liquid nails. You can use great stuff expanding foam too. Then you group everything, and seal it with mod podge or gorilla glue mixed with water.

Thank you but my question is meant for actual basking light fixtures. I have basking furniture for them.

I'm going to be stacking the vivs so I'm trying to sort out the lighting for basking without screen tops for lamps to sit on.

I dont know what wiring etc is like over there.... but I make up my own lighting fixtures....

Get something like this:

Then you just have to wire it with heat resistant wire and attach a plug

If it doesnt work, just go to the home depot website and type in lamp holders in the search bar. Im looking at the third one across on the search results - that is the one that I would say is most similar the the ones I usually use

Ember's arm fell off today, so it shouldn't be too much longer before she's able to ship! I hope I can get the vivs together before she arrives

It takes literally 5 mins to do the wiring and you can do it in advance so, as soon as the vivs arrive, all you have to do is screw them to the ceiling

When does she think she will be shipping? Does she know how to ship her safely ie heatpacks/cold packs etc

I just ordered her a pack from shipyourreptiles.com so she'll ship safely I don't know when she'll be ready to ship yet - I'm hoping not for another week at least so I can be ready. I need to get UVBs ordered today.

If I was sure your wiring system was the same, I would explain it to you.... but I dont know.... o well, lets give it a go anyway...

Over here there are usually 2 wires in the heat resistant wire... live and neutral. Live is brown, neutral is blue. Provided you have each of those wires in the correct place in the plug, then it doesn't matter which part of the light fitting they go into.... If it does matter on the light fitting, there is usually a marking to tell you where each one will go.
