New UV bulb

Ok so I ordered the Reptisun 10.0 bulb to replace the ReptiGlo 10.0. I got it, put it in and was so excited that Beardie had a new, powerful UV bulb. The problem is that every since I put the new bulb in, he stays in his log most of the day. He's healthy and eating well but refuses to bask. I'm not sure if it is a coincidence that he decided to hide after I got the bulb or if there is something wrong with the bulb. How would one know if there was a prob?

What are the temps in your viv? Do you have a heat source as well? When using a tube like that, you also need a bright white light to block the rays from the UVB bulb.

If you already know this info, I apologize :wink: Just trying to find a starting point to fix the problem.

No problem . Everything is the same as before except for the new UV bulb and a new basking bulb. The basking temps range from 95-100* If his temps are any warmer, he won't bask either. :|

How old is he?
Is he getting ready to shed?
Does it appear that he might be trying to brumate?

One last question... have you had a fecal done on him recently or at all? Parasites have a funny way of affecting your beardie and not all of them will display all the symptoms associated with 'cooties' :mrgreen:

One other thought... what is the size of the viv? Is it possible that it is too warm with the 100 watt?
