Hi, I'm etanainen, 31 and from Finland!

I don't have any lizards yet, though I adore them and want to study them as much as possible before getting my first. I dream of owning many different lizards one day, and a Beardie seems like a good one to begin the lizard keeping hobby with. I don't really have plans about when to buy one yet, I only know it'll be when I have done lots of more studying and have a good home tank all set up, complete with the right kind of UVB lights and all.

I keep a lot of Giant African Land Snails (and am a mod on a snail forum, actually) so I know some things about terrarium pets, though it's fascinating how some things seem similar and some the exact opposite, for example the cleaning routines. I was also wondering if I could somehow use my snails' eggs as treats to the Beardie, as they're naturally high in protein and calcium. My snails lay lots and lots of eggs, and some I can feed back to the snails, but there's a great surplus that I wish I could use. I will continue studying up so there's no pressure for anyone to comment on the snail eggs now - all kinds of weird little creatures make my heart flutter so much that I won't subject them to ANYthing before I'm sure it's ok.

Off I am to use the Search feature! I hope to be a contributing member here one day and not just one who asks questions. :D

Regards,
etanainen

Welcome to the forum! I hope you're able to find answers to any of your questions regarding bearded dragons. Please feel free to ask whatever you'd like. I don't have an answer about the snails. I've never heard of feeding the eggs to dragons before. I don't think it would be harmful but I've never heard of anyone trying it before. I think you'll find that once you have a dragon he will be your buddy more than a hobby. They are interactive and love to learn. They are very special animals and it's very easy to grow attached to them.

Thanks! I've been reading a lot, and it looks like I can't afford a dragon for a while yet because I had better be prepared for vet bills and sometimes costly experiments with tank supplies and feeders. I must also locate a local-ish vet who can treat lizards.

Oh, I'm sure the little fellow will feel like a friend, I said "lizard keeping" out of habit even though snail keeping is more than it sounds like as well. :D

There are some questions that still leave me puzzled, but I'll keep reading. After all I'm not in a hurry here. :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
