This is my new man. According to the breeder "He's an incredible eater and is growing fast. His genetics are Sandfire/Blood/OGG X Citrus/Snow/Aborigine Red and he's apx. 9.5" in length."

I will arrange to have him shipped and delivered next week after I get back from camping. I know Doyle just passed but I really loved having a beardie. This one should be much better as he won't be coming to me as a sick rescue. Plus it gives me something to look forward to after such a trying week.

Maggie, I am so pleased to hear that you are getting another beardie! Im sure it will help you out during this heartbreaking time - I have to admit, when Abu passed away, if it hadnt been got Kazi, I would have been completely lost!

Just something to watch out for - with Doyle having had suspected yellow fungus, have you checked what to use to clean out his viv? I would hate for this little one to be exposed to anything harmful. Im not sure if there is anything in particular that you should be using to ensure it is cleaned properly but I will see what I can find out!

I really am excited for you - this little one is very lucky to be coming to such a wonderful, caring forever home!

(PS - pics will be required as soon as you open the box - step by step pics from arrival, to actually placing him in the viv hehe!)

Thanks Miss T!! I'm definitely excited. They are holding him until I'm ready to have him home. I threw out all the porous stuff he came with like the wood. All his bowls have gone through the dishwasher. I sprayed down the viv with a concentrated bleach/water solution. Blankets and towels were washed with hot water and bleach. I threw out the toothbrush I used on him too. I actully had purchased another viv 48x24x18 in addition to the 40 gallon breeder Doyle was in. Chances are I will have the new baby in the larger enclosure eventually.

I can't do much research on yellow fugus unil Monday so if you find anything out please let me know. I'm on my phone now but we are almost to our camping spot. Happy weekend!

For a second there, I was thinking 'what are you doing travelling to a campsite at this time of night?' lol - then I realised that just because its nearly 1.45am here, does not mean its the middle of the night everywhere else.

I will have a look over the weekend and see if I find anything. Good idea to throw any porous things out. The bleach is hopefully enough to get rid of the yellow fungus but if I find anything else out I will post it here!

Have a lovely weekend!

Yippee!
Congratulations on the new baby beardie! He is stunning! Such bright colors!
Exactly what you need right now, a lot of brightness to color your world.

Doyle was such a trooper and will be a forever memory for you.

I can not help with the yellow fungus clean up...I guess we should be sure that bleach kills that. I believe one of the mods here or Tracie will know what to do!

It is so exciting getting a baby in the mail!
MissT is correct! Pics are mandatory here  The more pics you post, the more points you get! :blob5:

Again, congrats! Have a great weekend!

The idea of using the right agent for the right fungus is mentioned but I would think bleach would kill everything!

I think bleach would kill most things but then, it doesnt kill coccidia so I would worry that it may not get rid of all of the fungus. Hmmmm.... I was thinking betadine or even straight iodine then scrubbed of or novalson(sp?). I know betadine and novalson are used in treating yellow fungus. Hmmm.... shall have to go do some more investigating.

Thanks Ladies!!

I'm super excited about getting my new guy here. I have spent so much time looking at photos that I was really excited to find him with the colors he has. I love the contrast he has! I'm still working on sorting out a name for him. My friends this weekend recommended Sheldon, Leonard, or Sedona. I'm not sure I like them....of course I'll have to wait to meet him too. I just ordered some Reptiworms! I have a bunch of dubia that I had gotten for Doyle so the new guy better grow quick!

I was following Doyle's thread. I'm sorry he died. I'm glad to know I was right, he was to sick to survive for long. The only reason he did was because of your love for him. I've noticed about beardies, they really need love and they do much better when they get the true love from people.

I'm glad you got a new baby, you did the right thing. For some reason, beardies help us to heal from the loss of a beardie (or two) that we've lost.

Yes, Doyle was just hanging on. He got love and I wouldn't have changed the situation. I thought about waiting to get a new one but it doesn't seem right to not have a beardie in the house now. Even the cats look at the empty viv wondering where their buddy went.

New man will be shipped Tuesday and should have him Wednesday!! **happy dance** :blob5: :blob8:

I've got some names in mind, and one that I'm leaning more towards but I'll have to wait to meet him to decide for sure.
Cobar - means burnt earth
Cemal - means perfect
Pindan - means desert
Daku - means sand

Hooray!!! I'm so excited for you, Maggie! Will you be able to track his journey?

Remember- we want pics - from opening the box to getting him into the viv- it MUST be documented lol!

I should also have said, your right to wait until you meet him to choose a name! You will probably end up changing it 1000 times before you figure out which one is him!!

Oh you bet Christina! I'm taking the morning off of work so I can make sure I'll be home when he gets there. I'm rearranging my room again tonight to make room for the 48x24 set up that a friend is helping me pick up today. I've got new tile to put down, background to put on and I need to get the temps going so it'll be ready for him when he gets here. I'm debating getting a new basking rock...Doyle poo'd all over the other one and I'm soooo nervous about sharing it with my new man. I'll probably get a new one just to be safe.

So excited!

How is Kazi doing today? Did he sleep in at all?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
