New Hypo Orange Dragon

This is my new baby dragon. I posted a full introduction of myself on this thread https://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=208738 Ive had him for 5 days now and hes 3 weeks old. Hes a hypo orange. Hes still getting adjusted to the new home. I haven't named him yet. Hes been eating better the past couple days which is a good sign. I have a female leatherback that just hatched last week waiting to be shipped in a week or 2 from the same breeder I purchased this little guy from. He just finished shedding today. He still has a very small blue marker mark on his tail from the breeder which should go away with the next shed. Hes a very nice orange color and only came out of his first shed. I posted some pics of him below.

Thanks man. I will post pics weekly of him. Hes 5.5" from head to tail. I just added another close up pic of his color.

Thanks guys. I think I found the female I want. Shes a red trans tiger leatherback. 3 weeks old at 6" long head to tail. The breeder wants $235 which is $10 more than what I paid for my male. I think the offspring would be nice if I were to breed them two. Both are also 100% het for hypo.

Well its not expensive out here. Its expensive online. When you buy off a private breeder, you will pay top dollar but you will get your moneys worth. I can get a dragon locally for $50 but they will be nowhere close to compare with my little guy. If you want quality, you need to reach into your picket a little deeper. For me its totally worth it. I mean, look at my dragon. Hes perfect. Then again, it depends whether you can afford it. I spent $900 on material for the 2 vivs im building once they outgrow their 20 gallon tanks. $500 for both dragons. Thats $1,400 spent right there alone. Not to mention the other expenses. I plan on breeding eventually. We'll see how things go.

Heres a couple pics I just took before lights went out. He def got bigger in the 9 days ive had him. The blue marker is completely off.

His back legs got really orange. Now I can see the front legs will cover with orange soon as well. Hes going to look great. He looks like a darker orange under the uvb light but hes really bright. The top pic resembles him in person. I also decided not to get the red trans tiger female. Im waiting on newly hatched orange hypo leatherbacks that should be ready in 10 days to go out. I cant wait. I will def post pics of her when she arrives.

I love the orange! Ours is mostly brown right now, but I see a little orange here and there and I'm hoping he will brighten more as he sheds. He's not from a breeder, so it's whatever kind PetSmart labels as a non-fancy BD. They grow so fast, too!

Thank you. How old is your bd? I wouldnt hold my breath if I were you on him turning orange. The local pet stores get the most basic ones and sell them for cheap. I refuse to buy one from the pet store for that reason. He is still very nice though I bet. You should post some pics of him. You get attached to them like dogs I feel lol. They have their own personalities and arent boring like geckos and all the other lizards. And yes they grow super fast. Mine grew 1 inch in 2 weeks. In like a year or so I will breed them. Im getting a orange leatherback female that hatched 10 days ago. She should be ready by end of next week hopefully.

He's only about 2 months old. We love him regardless of color, but I do like the orange.

Any bd is amazing imo. I like his pattern. He seems really calm in water. My guy tries desperately to climb out like hes on fire or climbs up my hand and up my arm lol. I would have never been able to take a pic like that. Hopefully its just a hatchling thing and he phases out of it. Yours is a month older than mine. Mine turned a month old this tuesday that just passed. They look the same size. Would you be able to measure him and see exactly how long he is? Its good you got him so young. I think the younger the better. I got mine at 2 weeks old. When I breed my dragons I'll sell you a orange one for cheap if your still around the forums. But that wont happen for another 18 months LOL.
