New Hypo Orange Dragon

His color really seemed to come in now after his shed. He's def more orange than he was 2 days ago. He's gotten so big. I love him lol.

LOL, yea he's very aware. He's been like that since I got him. Even when i put him down, he likes to run away and explore my room lol. My female is much more melow. She just looks at you and if you pet her, she will fall asleep. She's very relaxed and is only attentive when she needs to be, but for the most part, she doesn't worry about much lol. Thank you for the compliments.

Thank you. Don't worry If your little guy isn't eating yet. They are usually scared and stressed from the move so it will take some time for them to get comfortable and start eating. Try putting the crickets in there and walking out the room leaving him alone. My guy would only eat when he was alone at first. Once he knew I wasn't a threat he started eating in front of me.

Glad to hear he ate. Leaving them alone works well I feel when they first move in. Just be patient with him. Its going to take months for him to get used to his new home and your hands. My boy is just getting used to my hands and he's been here almost 2 months. Until recently he would run all around the tank trying to get away when i tried to pet him or pick him up. Now he sits still finally and isn't scared. As babies they are very scared so they need time to adjust. Besides when
feeding him, try being in his presence as much as you can and he will see sooner or later that your not a threat. Also, every dragon is different. My girl ate 22 crickets on the first day and chased after them while my hand was still in the tank. She isn't scared at all and doesn't run. So it all depends on each baby. Where did you purchase him?

Just took a pic of him on my lap. He's still here with me as I write this lol. He's gotten so big. I def see what everyone says about them growing fast. Tomorrow he turns 9 weeks on the dot. I will measure him tomorrow but he's def over 9". He's a eating machine. I'll put 50 small crickets in the tank and he eats them all. He has no limit lol. Whenever my girl doesn't finish her crickets, I'll take her out and put the boy in her tank and he will clean out the rest with no delay. I just ordered 500 small dubia roaches last night. I plan on switching. I'm tired of crickets. I always thought they had no meat on them anyways. Its like humans eating chicken wings. Hopefully they will enjoy the roaches more. I hear they are more nutritious as well.

I agree I have never liked crickets. Starting a colony is so easy and they don't smell like crickets do. Plus the babies eaypt less because there is so much more meat on them than crickets.

That's exactly what I thought. They'd eat less since there's more meat. I just find roaches very gross. Idk about starting a colony because the adults remind me of waterbugs. Especially the males. I can deal with the small ones though lol. I'm excited to receive them on Wednesday hopefully. They will ship out on Monday.

I measured my boy today. He is 9.5" on the line.

I went to the reptile show on Saturday, and there were several people with dragons. One table (think it was Dramatic Dragonz) had leatherbacks and a little silkback. I couldn't believe the way it felt! We were good though, and left without any new critters, but my son wants a sand boa now. :roll: Told him, "next year". I don't want to take on any new pets right now.

That's cool. I plan on hitting up the next NY reptile expo in 7 weeks. I'm going with an open mind. Dunno if I will purchase anything. I actually am getting a THIRD dragon! This one will be yellow. I'm getting a super citrus baby in 3 weeks once they are ready. I told the breeder I want a female but I'm open to a male if the best one turns out to be a male. Reason I want a female is so I can house it with my other female until they grow out and move into their vivs. But I can always get another tank if its a boy.

I just got my first order of dubia roaches. I ordered 500 small size. I have another order of 500 small dubias that shipped out today. I fed my dragons and they went nuts! My female ate 43 roaches and my male ate 56! They attacked them and ate like they were starved for days lol. My boy looked fat afterwards. He ran to his basking rock. Here's a couple pics. He decided to only shed his tail and legs this time.
