hi there everybody im new to the bearded dragon scene, but am having fun with the little guy, my girlfriend and i named him Dino. Am not very sure how old he is maybe somebody can tell by the size on the pictures. also will he be ok around our dog? shes a 1 1/2 year old husky and shes very interested in him, she will sit and watch his tank and turn her head side to side like a goof. he doesnt seem scared of her i have had him in my hand and her smelling him, he actually licked the dog the first time they met. But i dont want him to get stressed out or anything... I placed a post in the feeding section as well if anybody has any insight for me about that please feel free to let me know. Too cute! guessing on the age thing, I'd say 3months ish.. but maybe some of the experts on here can give you more

My cats and dog all love my beardies, I never leave the unattended out together, but my cat seems to like to lick them and the dog just sniffs.

thank you for the warm welcome. I just now ordered a reptisun 10.0 24inch tube, got it from amazon for 25 and change shipped, which i think the petshop wanted like 36 or maybe a lil more cant remember. one more question, is the all around temp on the hot side ok at 96-98 degrees? i took the probe and placed it on his log and it went up to 112, so im hoping thats ok... will be working on removing the sand asap, kinda short on money right now being laid off but id like to place some ceramic tiles or maybe Linoleum if thats also ok for Dino... thanx for the help so far. very nice environment here

next time check out petmountain.com.. they have really good deals and thats where i ordered my repti sun..
and don't worry.. a lot of us had made mistakes and thats why we are here.. so don't feel too overwhelmed!
I had no clue Katinka needed uvb until I found the forum.. silly pet store.

basking for babies needs to be 105-110 from what I have read and 80 on the cool side..

i have checked their site and they were actually cheaper for the bulb by like a dollar or so but the shipping was 6 dollars more, and the 24 inch 10.0 bulb was outta stock. i will be checking there from time to time to see what good deals they have. thanx again everybody.. any ideas from the pictures of maybe how old hi is? i think the petshop guy said 9 months but he may have said 9 weeks.

Linoleum will work fine as long as it is a non-adhesive type. :wink:
Sorry it's literally impossible to tell a beardies age by size.
So many factors play a part in how well they grow genetics, husbandry, health.........

He is a cute baby dragon. I would say he can't be 9 months, LOL or he would be a lot bigger. Maybe 9 weeks.

Not sure about trusting the dragon with the dog. Only you know your dog. My dog would most likely step on my dragons, and he is always trying to paw the enclosures.

yea im going to do my best to keep her away from him, she is just so curious, she is very tame around him when i hold him but i would hate to see what she would do if she thought he was a chew toy. Im not sure which one is more jealous lol, if im holding him she has to be right there sniffing and if im petting her he stares at us like what the heck im the new guy here and i need all the attention. will be looking into the flooring soon, maybe even today if i can get it at the right price.

just finished getting his tank back together and thought id upload a few photos to see what you guys think, what i did right/wrong or anything i could change. thank you in advance for any suggestions or comments. the temps are off because i just put the lights back on when before i took the pictures... think ill be good to go once the uvb shows up

re arranged his tank, figured id give him a nice flat spot to bask. and what does he do hid underneath it lol not to worry about sturdyness, i screwed the two curved pieces together just to make sure it was lizard safe

just wondering if any of you have attached a reptisun 10 on the bottom side of the lid? that what i want to do because i dont want most of the uvb getting blocked out by the lid, was wondering if there would be an issue with the basking bulb heating the fixture or uvb bulb??? any ideas or suggestions send them my way thanks

the reptisun is supposed to be delivered today so hope it shows up soon, dino went to town oh his crickets today which was good, probably ate around 20 or so in a few minutes time. i think he likes his new setup better too he dont just spend most of his time on the log now, if i put the reptisun on the bottom side of the lid there will be about an 8-10 inch clearance between his log and the light is that ok with the 10.0 bulb or should i just set it on top of the metal lid and see what that does? I just want to get things right for the little guy, i feel bad that i keep moving things around but im trying to give him some different things to climb, and areas to hide and relax. so if 8-10 inches is ok please let me know so i can get the fixture soon and have it ready for the bulb when it comes
