Hi all,
Just finally got Rojo out of his 40 gallon breeder and into a 146 gallon (I think). Made the switch yesterday and need to adjust lighting for the increase in size. I have a 36" reptisun 10, a 150 watt bask bulb, a 75 watt bulb and during the switch I broke my ceramic and need to buy a new one. I'm about to get a new reptisun (its about 5 months old) and might as well get the ceramic from Zoomountain as well (60% off storewide sale today & tomorrow).
Question is.. how much more lighting do you think I need? His tank is right next to the window and we're coming into summer so it will be naturally very warm in the room (no air conditioning in that room). The tank is 36" square and 22" high. This is higher than the tank he was in, so should I get a 250 watt ceramic?
I have digital probe thermometers, his basking spot is 104 and the side under the lights is about 87 right now, the cool side is 75. Definitely not warm enough in general, right?
Thoughts?
Also, what kind of plants? He is still trying to climb the glass, I am planning on putting background against it so he's not seeing his reflection so much.
I'm SUPER excited about how amazing this is going to look when its all put together and done. I want to get some different levels of rocks and hideways along the backside perimeters, some other basking spots, plants, some large rocks and more wood.. I'll be sure to post more pics as it comes along.
Here's the dreary and boring first day.
