New Beardie owner... HELP

i just realized i just posted some pics of my fixture mount in another post for someone ...
so check this out, page TWO, see if they help at all.

you can see the fixture i bought in the pictures. i know there a bunch of different ones out there, and i dont think ti reall matters which one you get. but once you get one ...
basically:

get any "under the counter t8 light fixture"

get one pack of industrial Velcro (it will be four patches, two matching pairs)

pop the plastic off the fixture (if there is a plastic cover), put the UVB bulb in, turn it over.

put one patch of Velcro on one end of the back, and another patch on the other end.

stick the other two patches on the glass where you want to mount it.

line it up and PRESS!
keep pressing.
and you probably wont be able to get it off without breaking a sweat. or being like, DANG this IS on tight. teehee.
which is a good thing.

Ok so I think I figured out how to mount the light inside the tank... Yay!

Sully got another bath tonight. He just laid there and closed his eyes so Im not sure if he was just like whatever or was enjoying his soak. So I let him be for a little while longer then took him out. He is definitely starting to molt so Im trying to keep him soaking longer to help with that.

I also noticed that his left eye is darker when it closes. Here is a picture and maybe someone can help me find out what it is or means. This is his eye when it is closed.

PM the picture of the eye to either one of them, im wondering if it could be sand that has gotten in his eye over time ...

it looks like it might warrant a trip to the vet, but they will be able to lead you in a much more clear direction than me!
have you been able to remove that sand yet?

Both girls helped me out by suggesting that it is his eyelids shedding. His eye is already looking better today, so I am going to keep watching him and hope it keeps getting better. I am still looking into getting something else besides the sand. I am also trying to figure out how to cut his toenails. I tried using a file today but Sully did not like that so I am on the hunt for other ways to trim his nails. Otherwise he is being more active and definitely becoming more comfortable crawling all over me while we are sitting down.

Glad to hear Sully is doing better. As far as trimming the nails..get some cat nail clippers, they are like little scissors. Its not hard at all, just take off the black nail tip and just barely into the clear..just barely. I watched the vet one time and have done it myself ever since. There is also a video on youtube explaining how.

Today Sully had many adventures... He got to visit my work then Petco and then my parents house. Sully also got his nails clipped and his tank redone.

I started clipping his nails while he slept and got two legs done and he slept through it. But unfortunately he had to be moved so he woke up but was a trooper as I finished his nails.

When we finally got home I added some tiles to his tank and cleaned everything. Unfortunately some tiles need to be cut so some sand will need to be removed once I get that done.

Thank you again for all the help.

I am happy to say that Sully is doing great! His eyes are looking better and he is slowly starting to shed. He is very grumpy right now and lazy so I've been giving him extra baths and extra mist throughout the week to help him out. I cannot wait for him to get through this so he is back to his happy, climbing self.

Hello everyone,

So today Sully got to go on a car ride to the pet shop. When I got there the owner recognized HER yes her. So apparently Sully a a she... Hahaha! Oh well I still love her and am glad she is loving being with me.

We are currently sun bathing on the porch and she is loving every minute of it. Thank you all for the great advice and I couldn't make her so happy without all your help.

Sully loves car rides! She loves to ride on the passengers arm close to the wondow in the sun but where the wind isnt too strong. She is very picky about where she lays. She will relax if shes comfy but will squirm and wiggle to get closer to you if the wind is bothering her. Shes is hilarious that way. But she loves to ride around on your hand and arm and just chill out.

That is great! Both of mine love to go for rides,,but only one at a time and both of them want to sit on my shoulder...Or if its a long ride I will put her blankie on the dash and she loves to sit there and watch out the window.
