Welcome aboard.
Jen did a fantastic job with all your questions. Follow along with what she said and that pooper will grow like a weed. It will seem like He is always shedding for the 1st year...lol

Tell me about it! I feel like I just checked his size and two days later he grew another half inch! He's up to 7 inches now! Jen has been a great help :) (Thanks Jen!) and things are going a lot smoother now that I did what she told me to! :D

7 inches from snout to tip of tail that is!

so we picked up the 75 gallon tank last night....it came with a tower thing *I think must have been a waterfall feature origionally but no moter now*, a climbing bridge, three dome lamps, a water dish, a small hide log, and a large one, and a fake log....the only thing I'm really worried about keeping is the half hide logs...I'm just not sure how clean I'm going to get them with all that bark? The guy we got it from said his son had had a bearded dragon for 7 years, and had gotten it from a friend who had had it for quite a while, so it died of old age, and I don't THINK he would lie about it being sick or anything, I'm just nervous about making sure I get everything clean!

7 inches huh? Sounds like Herman is growing like a weed for you. It sounds like you got a great deal on the tank and fixins'. You can bake wood in the oven to disinfect it, but IMHO I would just chunk it and start fresh. I'm all about having things that can be soaked and scrubbed. I like stuff that is made for turtles or aquariums, they are usually made out of some type of resin and and pretty easy to clean. I just spray mine down with amonia or bleach water, depending on the week, leave it sit for a bit them rinse and let dry. I know that people use wood on here all the time so I know it's OK, I just don't like it for myself. Landscaping block that you can pick up at Lowes or Home Depot make wonderful things to climb on or you can go rock hunting too. I love going out and looking for things that Chaos can use, it's like a scavanger hunt! I wanna see pics when you get it all set up!

so we got the tank cleaned up and all the decorations--now I just have to convince my dad to get started on a stand for it...I drew up a plan for a type of storage shelf thing, with the big tank on top, so we'll see how that goes! I actually forgot to mention Herman is going on his first trip tomorrow! My b.f and I are going to visit his parents at their cabin and we're taking Herman with us...I'm a little nervous because it's about a 2 hour car ride, but I'm taking his 10 gal. viv and food and lights, so the set up will be basically the same as it is here! We'll see how it goes..I'm hoping he travels well now that he's older (I think he slept the whole way home after I bought him, lol).

You will have to let me know how the trip goes. Chaos loves to go in the car. We took him on a house hunting trip from VA all the way to FL before we moved here. He was great. He spent most of the trip on the dashboard watching the world go by. We enjoyed having him with us in the hotel too. He didn't stress or anything. IMHO I think the more you do with Herman when he is young the less nervous he will be later on when he is bigger. I'm sure that Herman will be just fine on your trip.

Did you talk your dad into building the stand for his new viv yet?

well the trip went off without a hitch...EXCEPT, when my wonderful b.f decided it was a good idea to get Herman out of his viv to show his grandparents...while we were OUTSIDE. Needless to say, this wasn't a good idea, and after sitting nice and still for a few moments, Herman decided to do a suicide dive and scamper across the porch....I was TERRIFIED. Luckily I cut him off and he held still long enough for me to grab him....and for future references, the b/f will NOT be taking Herman outside until he is large enough to wear a leash! *phew*! Other than that! Everything went well--he didn't get stressed, and in fact, was eating more than normal! He's getting ready to shed again, so he must be hungry! I'm going to order some dubia tomorrow and get things with that started--but I have to go to the local pet store and complain about the last batch of crickets I got! I only got 100 but a TON have died already and it's only been two days--they have food and water and shelter...so idk what's going on there. I think Herman will like to travel more as he gets bigger, he didn't seem to have a problem with it at all.

My dad has agreed to build the stand for the tank...but I think I'm going to have to drag him to the hardware store to get the lumber and get him started! :D

AND while we were at my b.f cabin, he and his dad cut up some maple branches for me to use in Herman's big boy viv, so I just have to clean those up and get a few tiles, and I'll be all set....now I just have to decide WHEN to upgrade him!

Very cute. As much as I love them when they get bigger, I think their are at their best at that age. I only wish I could say the same about my kids lol.

I just finished setting up his big viv...just have to figure out when I'm moving him over! Any suggestions? Oh, I don't have the lights there yet--I have them, just need some wire to hang the UVB. I also have a second tank set up in case I take in a rescue I'm trying to get.

Wow they look great! Already thinking about another one, huh? I think that it would be just fine to put Herman in the new viv now. But, you could wait awhile too and let him get a little bigger if it would make you feel better.

How are things going with Herman? I haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope that everything is OK.

Things are going alright! Herman is getting HUGE and such a little chubby one, haha! We've been keeping busy with the new rescue Sped, and now...will be giving TWO more beardies a good home come Sunday!! 8) The bf sure thinks I'm crazy, and I'm super surprised he's agreeing to bringing two more home! I don't know what I'll do with myself! The only issue we are having with Herman is the fact that he still doesn't like to be held all that much--he'll sit still for a minute or two, but then scampers off. I'm hoping he'll still settle down!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
