Hey guys!
I'm fairly new to owning beardies, but I've read tons of books on them to prepare for my new little baby. I'm pretty sure she's a little girl, judging from articles I've read and doing the test where you lift their tale. Little Bella came home with me on Friday, August 12, almost 4 weeks ago. When I got her, she was absolutely tiny and the pet store had no idea how old she was. She's almost 8 in long from nose to the tip of her tail now, so I'm guessing she's about 8 weeks old, though I could be wrong. I have her in a 20 gallon right now, but I'm working on purchasing and setting up a 55 gallon for her. She molted once already, less than a week after I got her, and she's molted just parts of her since then, like her tail or her head. I started out hand feeding her a little piece or two of veggies a day, about a week after getting her, and now I've caught her eating a few veggie pieces on her own (and have pictures to prove it ). She's actually pretty docile and sunbathed in front of a screened window on my arm several times before it started getting too cold for that. Not sure what else to tell you about her except that I think she's absolutely beautiful and have spent much of my time just watching her goof around in her tank (she loves to climb to the top of the 'vine' i have in there for her) or staring at her amazing color patterns. Being a new mom and a photography hobbyist, I've taken quite a few pictures of my beautiful little Bella. Here are some of my favs. Hope you enjoy them!
Her first molt. About gave me a heart attack when she started spazzing out (thought she was having seizures), until I saw the skin split and start coming off.
Sleeping in her little vine
Basking on her rock
Busted! Whenever she's eating her veggies and then I look over and see her doing it, she'll freeze and won't go back to eating them until i pretend to look away again.
I wanted a picture of her coloring.
This is her basking earlier this morning.
