Hi! I'm kind of new to this forum, but I was looking around and decided to post a few pictures of my baby, Dragon. :) I pretty much saved this baby beardie from Petsmart after he had a stroke and couldn't hold his head up right. I have had him for a little over 2 months now and he's doing great! He will be moving into a bigger tank soon, so I am pretty excited.

These are over the first few days I had him. He was pretty skinny and was getting adjusted to his new home, so he wasn't very interested in much.

He was pretty disappointed when he found out he didn't have a tail. Lol

This is a few days after he started eating. :)

Bathtime! (Yes, his head is still crooked from the stroke, but it is getting better, believe it or not. :))

He does this occasionally. Lol

Uhm, I'm not really sure what it is, but he barely has feeling in one side of his body because of his stroke, so I am guessing that went along with his head. I am almost positive he is blind in one side as well. Poor thing. But he's a great little dragon to have. (= I wouldn't take him any other way.

He is super adorable; congrats to your new addition! I think that was really wonderful of you to take care of him after his stroke. He is lucky to have such a caring parent like yourself! =)

awww what a cutie. on a side note, this petsmart joint, should the franchise really sell beardies if they can't care for them? i've seen many rescue cases and although the cases turn good, i would think that they would get in trouble for selling them in such appauling conditions.

Awwwww he's adorable. Despite the stroke his head tilt makes him look cuter, like he's trying to do the puppy face. It's awesome that you saved him :)

I've heard a few cases of petsmart having similar situations, i don't think it's necessarily petsmarts but the people they employ. The ones near me seem to take good care of theirs, their beardies are always fat and alert. Though 3-4 years back they may not have been, my friend got hers from a petsmart. He is missing several toes and the tip of his tail because he was with larger females who weren't getting fed enough. He's fat and healthy now, though a little small maybe.

He really wasn't for sale, my fiance just had started working there when this little guy had his stroke. They put him in the infirmary area in the back of the store to let him heal, I suppose. My fiance got extremely attached to him while he was in training and it just so happened that the employees could adopt for free, especially if the animal is hurt in some way. I guess it is because they know it won't sale? Either way, one of his managers ended up getting him instead, but she soon realized she didn't have the time to take care of him like he needed so she was nice enough to give him to us. :)

The Petsmart where he works really isn't all that bad. All of the animals are usually in good condition and it is a very clean store. (I know this for a fact because my fiance has had to go in at 4am here recently to clean and get ready for the day. lol) If something does happen to go wrong the animal will be seperated and watched closely. All the the employees are really caring to the animals. I was just afraid that if I hadn't of taken him in then he would be suffering from the lack of attention he needs being special. Maybe I am just over caring. lol :)

I did this with my other beardie, Puff, as well. I took him in a few days after I got Dragon. His previous owner enlisted in the military and was deployed to Afghanistan so he obviously wasn't able to take care of him. The man's mother was tossing in a few pieces of lettuce every now and again for him to eat. She came up to Petsmart and offered him to my fiance for free! Not just a beardie a little over a year old, but also his 55 gallon tank and all of the accessories included. Now both of my boys are fat and happy. Lol

That is about how it is here. A few of the smaller beardies end up losing their tails because another one or two will mistake it for food. It doesn't happen THAT often, and most of the time it is just a little bit of the tip of the tail, but it still happens to say the least.

Thank you to everyone else! I'll upload more pictures of him as soon as I can. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
