My first to hatch our last night still has thin layer of the cord wrapped around its waist tight!
Vet is closed for the weekend, and I don't know what to do. I soaked it in water but it's still like a little tight ring around it. Just below the ribs and above the hips. Baby is 23 hours old.. Please let me know if you know what I shoul do.

OMG I know ur a basket case -- I wud be!!!! Too bad it's the weekend & u can't get ur vet. I really don't know what to tell u other than to find a site where u can ask a live vet online & they'll answer u. I can't remember the website but a yr or so ago I had a beardie that had just eaten a lightning bug & I know that usually kills them but I found this site & chatted online w/ this vet who tried to advise me. Unfortunately with my prob, nothing cud b done & I lost poor Diamond but they might b able to help u. Just google online vets & see if anything like that comes up. Am so sorry -- I do hope & pray the little one will b OK....keep us posted on how it goes.

After its moistened well I would try slipping a blunt sewing needle in between the dragon and cord, see if you can use nailclippers at that point to cut the cord. I've done that with a rescue that I got with very indented rings of skin left around his tail, it was red and raw underneath and I used betadine solution afterwards to disinfect. His tail is fine now. Hope you get the lil gaffer free soon!!

Thanks for the idea, we will give that a try. It's just so small, I don't know if we can get hold it sill enough for us to do that small of a job. I don't want to kill it, or let it die. I'll try to post a pic.

I hear you, it is difficult and probably a two person job, one the keep the dragon still and secure and then someone to get the cord off. Today we had to open up the baby beardie hospital :( First time in two years. One of our two week olds went after a cricket that was on another babies tail, before I could stop it he bit the other dragons tail with the cricket, hard, and did not let go. poor lil guy, the tail was definitly broken and cut almost half way through, last mm of tail was unsaveable. After disinfecting it, applying polysporin, we used a shaved piece of toothpick for a splint and a flexiband-aid and now hes in recovery for several days. He's eating a drinking well so thats good. I just felt so so bad for the lil tyke as I seen the whole thing unfold. I sure hope we were quick enough to be able to save his tail.

I've seen 2 adult dragons online who had quite large nasty scars across their backs because they had this as babies. So left alone, he'll probably live, but have a big ugly scar. I would probably try to remove it if possible.

Thanks for all the advice. So as of now the "band" does not go across the belly area it is tight from side to side. We can't find the band to remove it! There must be something there, but we can't see it. The poor baby looks like it should hurt, but it's moving and running fine. If it makes it, it will look very deformed. We just want our new baby to be ok.

Sorry I have not checked in for a while. Update.. The baby is doing well and seems to be fine just a large scar. So it's name is Scar:). The last baby to hatch out only has 1 eye! However it is feeding well also, we just have to turn it to the direction of the. But all are well! Thanks for all your help everyone.

Oh goodness -- ur really having a time w/ ur babies! The poor little thing w/ one eye -- never heard of that one b4. Is it on the side where it shud b, and duz it look like the other one tried to form but just didn't? I wonder what cud cause such a problem but thank God he's otherwise ok & eating. And I'm glad to hear ur other baby is doing better too. The things we go thru for our babies!! But it's always worth every minute of distress!!! Hope they stay well. Good luck w/ them! :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
