Yesterday I got a bearded dragon, Currently still debating on a name. He's about 6 inches long. Last night when we fed him crickets he got extremely excited and ate them all happily. Today however he hasn't eaten. We but in about 6 small crickets like we did last night and he hasn't eaten them. He's seen them and even licked one, but nothing. I'm new to all of this so I'm terrified of something happening to him. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello! Don't worry about him not eating, it is totally normal. If you could give us a complete run down of your whole set up, we could check to make sure everything is good :D

If you'd like to post a pic of him, go to https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ Then use the XIMG to attach pics to your post.

He is in a 40 gallon tank. There is a foam like background in the shape of rocks sticking out, he loves to climb on it. I have a log house in the shape of a n under his basking light, which is around 96-97 degrees Fahrenheit. In the middle there is a tree with diffferent branches and leaves. He then has a bowl for his salsa, bowl for water, and bowl for some pellet mix. Along with reptile carpet on the floor. There are two lights, the basking light and the uvb? Light. So there is a hot side and a cooler side which is around 80-85 degrees. I'm feeding him small crickets for now and have repi worms on the way. If it helps to get a picture of his tank/of him to make sure it's all good let me know, along with if you need any more info. Thank you for all the help!

What UV? Brand? Coil/compact? You need to get your basking temp up to 105º-110º. What thermometer are you using?

Not sure on the brand. I got the lights in a starter kit. It's a coil bulb. I have a digital thermometer on one side an analog one on the other, which came with the kit. But I've moved the digital onto both sides just to double check the tempuratures. Here is the info the kit gives about the lights "1 Basking Bulb (50 watt) 1 Desert UVB Bulb (13 watt)". How would I go about getting a higher basking temp?

Sorry to tell you, but those kits are usually junk. Get a halogen type bulb (from Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc) and a dimmer, and you'll be able to get the perfect temp. UV is EXTREAMLY important; those coil ones are insufficient and can even damage their eyes. Get a ReptiSun 10.0 TUBE STYLE t5 from Amazon. Does your thermometer have a probe?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
