I have a 6 month old Beardie named Blu. She has had a uri for almost a month now... I am constantly on the verge of tears as we cannot seem to find relief for her. Although she does not have mucus around her nose, she gapes and mucus can be seen on her teeth. I took her to the vet, a reptile and exotics specialist. He prescribed Baytril for 10 doses, but it did nothing. We moved on to daily injections for a week which also did nothing :( I see her gaping and continue to make clicking noises and it breaks my heart. The gaping has been getting worse. My vet recommended i bathe with her so the steam can clear her lungs but i have read humidity is bad for them so I am confused. I absolutely cannot bear to lose my baby she is everything to me. I bought a nebulizer and f10 as well as reptaid in the hopes that this will help. Does ANYONE who has experienc with URI's have any suggestions on how to help her? I have tipped her at a downward angle in the hopes this will drive the mucus down but she always changes her position even while asleep. I am desperate. I made another appointment for this saturday, but I'm not too sure I trust this vet as both prescribed antibiotics have been ineffective. Her tank setup is as follows:

40 gal tank
10.0 reptisun uvb
100watt basking bulb
NO MESH LID so all light fully penetrates tank
probe thermometer
repticarpet
she eats greens with vitamins and calcium and eats superworms.

You guys I don't know what to do anymore....please please help. Tracie if you see this, any of your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Sorry your poor dragon is having trouble with a respiratory infection. They can be so stubborn
in the wintertime, too!
I agree, I really don't like the steaming either. Yes, definitely go with the nebulizing treatments
with the F10, for daily treatments of 15 minutes. If there is a Tractor supply store, you could
look at getting tetracycline to put in with the F10 to help out.
tried that yet, or has the vet suggested it at all? Baytril is good but they seem to develop an
immunity to it somewhat quickly & it stops being effective. You could try Tylan, or Tetracycline
which aren't used real often but are safe for reptile use. Those can also be used in the nebulizer
treatments also.
Definitely keep her wrapped up in a little warm fleece blankie at around 80 overnight to help
boost her immune system. What supplements are you giving?
I am glad to hear she still has a good appetite right now. Bless her.
Your tank setup sounds fine. You could look at bumping up her basking temperatures just a bit
to help her out, too.

Let us know how she is doing.
Tracie

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
