We have our 3 year old female BD in a wood 4ft x 2ft x 20inch high viv. We have been up and down when it comes to the temps, especially with this weird weather. After many bulbs, we finally found that a 35watt halogen flood got her basking temp between 103-105f. I noticed after moving her into her new viv that she didn’t seem to want to do anything. I thought well she might need time to get used to it, however I just checked the temps again and they are reading extremely high...I’m using a digital thermometer with probe as I did when I first set up her viv. If anything I thought her temps may have gone down with all this rain, not up! We did add a 36" repti-sun 10 uvb fixture which extends almost the full length of her tank, could that be what’s causing the extra heat? Her temps stay between 75-82f on her cool side depending on time of day.
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. 35watt flood seems like such a low wattage.
I was thinking on using a dimmer switch. Is that hard to do? Does anyone have any info on how to set it up?
