Need help with lighting.

Hello,
I'm new to the lizard world, and just recently got a baby beardie. I named him/her Dune, not sure on the sex because every time I go to check I can't see signs of either, and read somewhere that it may take some time to be able to see. But that is not my issue right now. I had thought I did enough research on what I needed before getting my baby, but found I had not searched enough. I am one of the many who got a repti glo 10.0 coil light, and when I looked up why my beardie was blinking his eye a lot, I found out quickly why. I kicked my self for what I found. So now I turned off his one light and he only has his heat lamp. But here becomes my problem. I bought this $40 Exo Terra Compact lamp

, and was wondering if there was a bulb that I could use in this lamp that would do the same thing as a repti sun tube light. I saw this light

and was wondering if it would do the same thing as a tube light. I really cant afford to buy a new lamp and light, so if there was a way to use my Exo Terra lamp that would be great.

Sorry to say but you would have to get a whole different fixture. The good news is that you can find fairly inexpensive fixtures at Lowes, Home Depot and Walmart.

Either that or another coil/compact. You will want to change out the Tube Sun every 4-6 months, and make sure that the dragon can get within 4-8" of the Tube Sun, for maximum effectiveness.

Ok, I will be changing out my light asap. Thank you so much for the help. I would hate to have gone through the same problem just to buy another odd looking compact light.
Now to figure out what to do with my $40 Exo crap light. Maybe my friends dad would like a really nice looking shed light, lol.

Can you return it ? If not, then I wouldn't use it for a shop light, those rays can damage our eyes too !

Not sure I can return it. I have the boxes but cant find the receipt. I will defiantly try tho.
Yeah, I guess using it as a shop light wouldn't be a good idea, whats bad for my dragon can't be any better for me.
Worst case scenario, I'll have to throw it away.
But your advice has been really helpful, and I plan on keeping on these forums for a while. I like how I can see other people's experiences as well as get help with my own!

ok, so luckly they let me return my lamp and lights! I got the right lamp and a new light.
The light I got was this

It's the only kind they had for the lamp. I hope that it's ok.
If not I'll have to look somewhere else for the repti sun kind. I only got this one cuz I could only get store credit and it's all they had.

i have heard issues with the earlier reptiglo 10.0.....dont get discouraged though, someone else will have to confirm if they have fixed this particular model as far as it's effectiveness. This was awhile ago when it first came out. Hopefully someone can better answer your new bulb question.
