Need Advice: What will it take for a Healthy Beardie?

One thing i didn't see any one mention yet is that a wider range of food will give you a healthier beardie in the long run. I suggest that once the little guy is no longer a baby that you start your self a nice fat roach colony or go the worm rout. I personally do both. I also have a nice dragon/me garden. I eat healthier than i did predragon. I'm gonna tell you now that its a great way to teach your kids about nutrition. Beardies and kids are a ton alike. which is why they shouldn't be eating "kibble" lol, but you knew that right off. Any ways, you can feed them the occasional berries. Like raspberries and such. Treat it like a candybar though, 1 time a week, or the little guy will get the runs. Dandelion greens are good too, i'm sure you can find a massive list on this site some where. I honestly don't feed mine apples are carrots because of the small impaction risk (super small risk if properly prepaired). My dragons get their carrots through my roaches accually. sorry to hear about your beardies. petsmart doesent take care of them too well and they sell them way too small. we have sevral beardies from diffrent breeders on here and all are doing great!. with mine when they were little babies i bathe them daily otherwise every other day. i personaly like tile in my cages its easy clean up. i have used carpet in the past you can use outdoor carpet from places like lowes its alot cheaper just dont buy the super cheap one as the "grass" falls off.i have had lizards who pride themselves on giving me a heart attack by trying to eat that stuff so i like to take a lighter to the edges so nothing comes loose. post a pic when you get your new little beardie!

http://www.beautifuldragons.com actually has an excellent list with many different food items on it and lists whether it is good as a staple, treat or never.

With my babies, and adults, I stick to collard greens, mustard greens, dandelion greens and turnip greens. Adults also get staple of butternut squash. Then I throw in other foods as treats occasionally.

Roaches are a wonderful addition to anyone who has dragons. I do not use mealworms because there is too much of a risk of impaction, especially with smaller dragons. My adults get superworms as treats. The staple insect for babies here is crickets, supplemented with roaches.
