Hi all just got in to having a bearded dragon. Iv got call calsy sand in the vivarium but my mate is saying put like a ceramic tile down the basking end is this true . Many thanks lee .
OK cool thanks . What about barkDaisyDragon123":1vl4kvih said:Take out all sand. These packaged "sand" products cause more trouble than they are worth: impaction, harder to keep cage properly cleaned, stain the dragon. Use non-adhesive shelf liner, newspaper, paper towels, or tiles instread. Some people use reptile carpet but they can easily snag a toenail on the carpet.
OK cool I think I'll go with a bit of vinyl as easy to clean . Many thanksDaisyDragon123":1yxz6nrw said:Any loose substance, such as bark, can pose a risk of impaction so I wouldn't risk it.
If you are wanting decorating ideas, petstores sell river type rocks that are too big for ingestion that make an attractive addition. Add a nice wood climbing branch, some earthy looking tiles, a Timothy hay tunnel (used for guinea pigs) or other type hide, some carefully placed river rocks and you will have a interesting display.
