We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy
Deb and my six dragons :D      :( :love5:

I know, I was chuckling away when I found him like that, he's such a funny beardie, but I guess I'm not alone on that

Deb, that picture belongs on the "beardies fall asleep any which way, I want pics" post (in photo expressions). They all would love that one.

Awww!!!! What I want to know is how Didi was able to fall asleep clinging onto the beehive for dear life, without risking falling off.
He cracks me up.

Hi Lori, Jen & Gina,
If I could tell you how he hangs on & sleeps, I would, but I just don't know. I've come home to him doing this before but could never get a pic. I'll check out photo expressions, Lori, just to see. Haven't been on there in awhile. Gina, I think he does the same thing Pookie did in his pic, maybe it's just like having suction cups? When I got him tonight he was sprawled out on his basking rock.

Hi Jonathan, how are you, Stephanie and your crew? I still only have 2 dragons awake Didi and Leo, so mornings aren't as hectic as usual. Need to visit your thread, too.
Deb
Did you check out Didi & his strange sleeping position?

So your Mica sounds like Didi? What do you do when he starts losing weight? I wish Didi was more like Leo, he's my pudge. Even Lonzo has lost a bit of weight, he used to have a huge tummy but he's really slimmed down in the last couple of years. My vet figures it's just because he's getting older, so I'm anxious for him to wake up so I can stuff food down him, too.
Deb

Hi Deb, Sorry for not getting right back to you,.............Mica came to me as an adult very small. The picture that was sent to me from the breeder showed him much much bigger, but when he arrived he was skinny and small. Apparently, he was puffed up in the picture sent, giving the illusion of being bigger. So he never has been robust, just put some weight on, not looking as emaciated like before, still love my white baby boy..............

How's your Didi doing? Still sleeping?

Hi Christine, it's good to hear from you. I just checked your thread & I'm so glad Bella is doing so well. Didi is like your Mica, it takes no time for him to lose weight, but takes awhile to get it back on him. He did brumate a bit, but since he's been up, he's gone from 430g to 390g. I drives me nuts as he just refuses to eat some days, so I give in & give him chicken w/veg babyfood, which he just laps down like theres' no tomorrow. It just doesn't put weight back on him, so I'm hoping he'll decide he's hungry again.

Leo has been up for a long time, too, but his weight never changes even though he's not eating alot either. He's my little pudge, 536g & he's the same body length as Didi. Leo likes to sit at the bottom of his tank & watch TV, Didi likes to sit under the powersun at the top of the ramp & watch TV. They bob & blackbeard each other a few times a day, otherwise they just vegetate.

I'm waking Lonzo & Rubio up on Friday am, have the day off, to give them water & hope they'll stay up, they've both been sleeping for a few months now. They both went down really late this year, in December, but hoping they're not going to stay asleep too much longer, I miss my boys!

Hi Nathan, I woke Rubio & Lonzo up last Friday, they both drank water & by noon were back snoozing & haven't woken up yet. Brumation for adults can go on for a few months & they were late going down this year. Usually they're sleepy & start snoozing in September, then up in Dec/Jan, but this year they went down in early Jan, so may be another month. I wake them up every 2 weeks for water, especially for Lonzo, as he'll be 9 yrs old in April & gets more dehydrated than Rubio. I really can't wait to have all 4 up, then there's lots of male musk smell in the house.

Thanks for looking Nathan, I'm not expecting you to read it all, but check out the pics anyway, some are hilarious!

Ah sorry, I thought I saw the post as this friday, not last hehe.
I'm glad to hear they're doing well, despite being in brumation haha. I don't know how I'll cope with NO beardies for a few months when he goes down for his first brumation, and I bet you can't wait either haha!

I'm getting through, slowly but surely, loving every one of the pics, they're so adorable! You may not expect me too, but I procrastinate my school work a lot, and by next week, these 120 so pages will be read haha! Hope you and you guys have a good weekend!

Thanks Nathan, I'm really surprised that you want to read the whole thread, but thanks. They've all been worth the time to take care of them & my boys are very healthy & happy, especially when they're watching TV
You have a ways before you have to worry about brumation for little Cyrus (well he's not that little anymore, is he!)

I found a beetle in my room tonight, I know it's from a super worm, as have seen them before. So I showed it to Didi & he gobbled it right up. I'm hoping there will be ill effects, but he seems healthy 2 hours after eating it. Considering that he wouldn't eat worms, roaches or crickets, I was surprised when he chomped it right down  They sure can surprise you sometimes!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
