We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy

It is a relief that they're all doing well. And your sweet baby is just adorable, :D :D I just realized why I hadn't been getting notifications. So now I'll keep up. The same thing has happened to Flame's thread, so will look for that, too, just have to find some time to do it. I've been finding alot of dropped threads lately, so finally catching up on everyone and reading new threads, too.

Leo is still our most active beardie; he's not happy unless I clean out the poop bath & give him a clean bath so he can swim for a couple of minutes. By the time he's done, he's bright yellow, especially his head, all the darker stripes fade away.

Sweetie is making more eggs, we think, but at least she waited until she got some of her fat stores back, for which I'm grateful, so pulling out the liquid calcium again.

Rubio has gained back the 100 grams he lost during Spring Fever. He's still our upright beardie, as you saw in the latest pose. He's a very funny beardie, who's been very lazy, but he's starting to perk up again.

Lonzo's getting stronger every day, he especially likes the bricks Roger put on his wooden ramp, especially since his so Roger moved the power sun over the brick. So we're starting to get back to normal, or as normal we can be right now.

We just got notice that the owner of our apartment has put it up for sale :angry5: ...what a drag :| ...moving 6 tanks, plus the spares in the storage, :banghead: and we'll have our two foster beardies by then, too. :banghead: We'll have to think that over. What a pain in the a**. Lots of things to look into, especially looking for a new place in the same complex...we'll manage as usual, but I really thought we'd stay here for awhile longer. Oh well...we'll cope.

Sorry to hear about your apartment being put on the market that sucks...I hate moving. Would be nice if you found something in the same complex then you wouldn't have to move far at least. Good Luck!

Hugs & Snuggles!

Runs off to turn on beardie lights..........

Lonzo is back to normal! :D :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: He's been running around his room, running up and down his ramp and bobbing at Leo, so all is as normal. The only thing is he's not walking as high on his legs as he used to, that will take a bit more time. It's great to have him back, YAHOO :blob5: :blob8: :blob5:

Thanks Christy, moving's always a drag and it may take awhile before we find a place, the landlord has to give us 60 day notice & the 2nd mo is free. So hopefully it won't sell, or if it does, it would be to an investor, then we could stay. So guess we'll find out in the next few weeks. Market's soft right now.

I have Sweetie on my shoulder, and Leo can see her & he's doing major glass dancing, bobbing and blackbearding, right down to his vent. Sweetie's low bobbing to both of them, so I'd best get her out of the room. They're just too funny!

Deb, I'm so happy to hear that Lonzo's back to his ol' head bobbing self again :D After that awful health scare, he sure needed some good news coming his way.

How's the rest of the crew?

Hi Gina,

The rest of the crew are doing well. We think Sweetie is getting ready to lay another clutch of infertile eggs, but probably not for at least 3 weeks. Leo is so active, he just bounces around in his tank when he sees Lonzo (they're back to playing that game!). Rubio is busy gaining weight & climbing the chair in the dining room when he's out to roam. He's gained back 100 grams he lost during Spring Fever. Lonzo is starting to gain a bit of weight, too, even though all he'll eat right now is squash & raspberries. No greens shall ever pass thru his lips into his mouth without being spat at & being glared at. He's so funny, it's great to have him back again. He even climbed a small box & jumped back out on the other side, so getting much more active. Sure glad to see everyone back to normal!

Deb, I had to get caught up! I'm sooo glad that Lonzo is feeling better! That's crappy about your apt building but as you said, if it sells hopefully you can stay. That's amazing that Rubio has already gained back 100 grams!!! Way to go!!! poor Sweetie, getting ready for more eggs...at least she's built up her fat stores!

Deb, I wondered for awhile if you couldn't buy your apartment yourselves, then you wouldn't have to move, ever. But then I realized that was probably out of the question otherwise you might have said something. I'm glad we live in the place we live in. We are paying less for a mortgage than we would be for a half way decent (tho a LOT smaller) apartment in town. The only problem is we go through about $45 to $60 in gas every week depending on the price and how often I have to go into town. I hope we never have to live in an apartment again, they are way to small not to mention no place to take our beardies outside daily as they are used to.

Hi Katrina and Lori,

We'll know more about the apartment on Monday, we can't afford to buy the place, prices where we live are way too expensive. We'll see how it goes.

Lonzo is back to normal, he's doing the last security check before he goes to bed. We had sun today, so they all had their turns in the sun on the balcony, 1st really warm day this spring!

Deb, sorry to hear that you're going through so much with the apartment issues. Hope it can all work out for the best.

Great to hear that Lonzo is back to his old self, must be such a relief for you. Sounds like the rest of them are doing great too, that's wonderful news. :D

Hi Deb,
I got your PM and finally was able to read this thread, I am so sorry for all you and Roger have lost, It's so hard to believe that you've lost 3 babies, in a few months, it makes me very sad to know what you've been going through. But there's one thing that is truly a blessing......... it's the fact that these babies had you and Roger as parents with all your TLC, special care and all your cuddles. We never know how long we have with our beardies, which is frigtening in itself, but it's the care one gives before that time comes that matters. My heart goes out to both of you, and I'm grateful that Angel, Dino, and Issy had you and Roger before their time came to go over the rainbow.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do, and know we are all here for you.
I'm so glad that Sweetie and Lonzo are fine now, and the family is getting back to normal,

Hi Christine, thanks for your kind words, we miss Issy alot, she was our fiesty baby. Even Sweetie still looks for her sometimes, but not as much now. Knowing they're all at Rainbow Bridge with all the other beardies has helped us, as Issy was gone so quickly. It's been a stressful year so far and it's not even June, so things have got to turn around. Lonzo is back to normal, it's such a relief; he's even taken up jumping, which is new. He's taken to leaping up onto a box, then jumping down back to the floor. Yesterday he jumped from the window sill in the computer room to the lamp stand, a good 5-6" leap. My jaw dropped to the ground when I saw that.

Sweetie just laid her 5th clutch since January, around 20 eggs. We're used to it by now, but she's never laid this many this early before. So lots of worms, greens and liquid calcium to help her get her weight & strength back, who knows how many she'll manage in the rest of the summer. As always when done with laying the eggs, she looked for Roger to help her bury them and tamp down the soil to her satisfaction. The last time she laid eggs, I was home, so I did the burying and the tamping. Well, Ms Queenly dug up the earth I'd tamped down and re-did it herself. So it's ok for Daddy to help, but not Mom...that was just so funny, Roger could hardly believe his eyes!

So we're gradually getting back to normal. Leo has gained about 40 or so grams since he came to live with us; We've gotten to know him better. His nickname is Sir Velcro, as he clings to you like velcro & is difficult sometimes to detach. He likes to sit on my hand when I'm filling the tub for his daily bath; gets in the water, poops right away, rinse, back on my hand while I clean up and re-fill the tub, then he swims for a couple of minutes. He's getting larger & larger muscles on his arms and thighs, he's like an aligator in the water. So we have tub time in the am and cuddles back to his tank to dry off, then the rest of the baths, and hand fed squash pieces. He always ate his salad in his tank, the first time I offered him squash was the last time he ate salad in his tank. We've spoiled them so much, but I like the one-on-one it gives me in the morning, as they're all asleep by the time I get back from work at 9:30p.

Rubio is shedding in patches; a knee, 1/2 of his face, a few toes and a bit on his tail. They surely shed strangely when they're adults.

Thanks again for all your support, it helped us get through a really rough patch. Next one is, we're moving by June 1 to a 1 bedroom apt from this 2 bedroom apt. The owner is putting it up for sale and we don't want to stick around for the constant showings. We're moving into the next building in our complex and my son has promised me his muscles and his friends muscles to move our furniture one building over. The landlord is even sending us some $ to use to move with, as he'll need to completely renovate this old apartment in order to sell it. We've got everything sorted in our heads, now we have to measure to make sure everything fits. At least the dimensions are the same, big bedroom, big living room, smaller dining room and kitchen, bigger bathroom. Luckily all the tanks will fit in the same places, so that's a relief. It's the re-hooking all the utlities that's a real drag. At least the rent's cheaper than we're paying now. The owner of the apt we're moving into has promised he's going to want us to stay for a long extended lease. Thank goodness, I hate moving :angry5:

I have new pics of the latest antics, I'll get them downloaded on the weekend. It's time for this thread to be about happy healthy dragons!

Deb & Roger
Sweetie, Leo, Lonzo and Rubio all say Hi Christine, say hi to Ollie, Pyrex, Bella, Gabby, Lincoln and Scarlet for us :D :D

:laughing6: I can't believe Sweetie dug up her eggs because she didn't like the way you hid them then patted down the soil. Guess she's very particular about how her eggs are buried.

Lonzo started jumping?! Wow, guess he's really back to his ol' self now. Happy day!!! :blob8:

Happy to hear that Leo's gaining some muscles. I knew he'd be thriving in no time.
"Sir Velcro" -- LOVE IT!

Deb, sorry you have to move to a 1-bedroom apartment. Does this mean the boys won't have their own room?
Good luck with the move.

Hi Gina, it's so funny about Sweetie, as she laid another clutch yesterday and let Roger bury the eggs and pat down the earth. She deems his help better than mine

Yes, we're moving into a 1-bedroom, Lonzo, Leo will be sharing the living room. Rubio will be in the dining room and Sweetie will be in our bedroom. So they're all arranged. This is just going to be a pain, I hate moving, but at least we'll have some $ to pay my son to help us, the landlord is giving us some extra$ for the inconvenience of moving. We figured he'd need the place to be renovated before he can sell it and we'd rather not be dealing with constant showings of the place. We'll see what other help we need.

Leo's shedding his tummy and part of his tail, so we're really pleased to see that. I'll get some photos up later.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
