Wow! Thank you all so much for weighing in!
It
really means alot to me to have my friends and fellow reptile enthusiasts help me in the biggest decision since my beloved Myah. I spent all day
agonizing over my choices. Thanks to everyone here, I know in my heart I made the right choice for my lifestyle.
Drum Roll...Deep Breath...And...and...and... :laughing6:
Tremper Albino Giant/Super Giant Leopard Gecko!!!
(Written in blue because I'm going to bring home a little boy :love5: )
The deciding factors:
I chose the Leo for many reasons. But in a nut shell...
#1 I like that the tank size is slightly smaller. The tort would need larger then a 40gal and there's only so much space in my home.
#2 A nocturnal animal means that there would be equal attention between Myah and -name chosen for gecko but kept as a surprise- hehehee...
#3 I already have a brand new dome light and two different sized hides (the hides I have wouldn't benefit the tort)
#4 A baby!
*loving sigh* The hermanns tort is a rarer breed and it is nearly impossible to find a babe. All adults, sold to pet shops, then sold to the consumer.
I'm very excited over the idea of watching an animal grow and thrive in my care. I missed out on the baby years with Myah. I wish everyday that I could have one photo of her when she was small but her 1st family had none
I feel as though I will always have a BD and that BD is likely to be a rescue because there are far too many in need of loving homes. So just this once, I'll have a baby of a different kind to spoil and photograph to my hearts content.
This will not be a quick process. (wish I could snap my fingers, and make it happen) I'll need to save a bit more for the viv, stand, UTH and animal it's self. The breeders can't tell if a gecko will be a giant or a super giant until they can gage the rate of growth. I'll update as I add each new item for the babe to come.
I'd like to end my UBER long post by saying, this was NOT an easy choice. Turtle paws, are infact, ridiculously cute! (perfect Dooter  ) But it came down to the housing and the idea I could choose my babe from a respected breeder. Tonja's new god lizard will be a Leo. I couldn't be more happy Thank you all again -Holly-
