My "My-my(s)" Myah found a home

Shall I wag my tail and fetch that ball? No. This will not do. I think I'll sit and bask awhile, maybe all day through. Is that yarn? A funny thing. So fuzzy soft and round. Chase it? No. I will not go. There's crickets to be found! I will not sing a pretty tune. I will not bounce and hop. And if I get too tired, it's anywhere I'll plop. But please my person, mom of mine, or my daddy dear, Remember when you're gone away, I still wait right here. I love my bath, our cuddle time, you're more then just a face. Please don't ever give me to an unfamiliar place. I need you and I'll try to show how great that I can be. Even though, you may not know, if I'm he or she. Have some faith. You'll earn my trust, I swear with all my heart. It's plain to see and clear to me, here's our fresh new start.

(Inspired by a very loved little dragon.)

My vote is for the tortoise! I have nothing to base that off of other than: TURTLE PAWS! So cute! :love5:

Well, Holly, so far the gecko is in the lead...how many votes do you need to decide? It will be fun to have a big leo, we'll expect lots of pics on here, just like I've done with Bunny, he/she can share Myah's thread, that way we all get to watch him/her grow. Ooops, I'm getting ahead of myself, after all it's your decision :D

Wow! Thank you all so much for weighing in! :D It really means alot to me to have my friends and fellow reptile enthusiasts help me in the biggest decision since my beloved Myah. I spent all day agonizing over my choices. Thanks to everyone here, I know in my heart I made the right choice for my lifestyle. Drum Roll...Deep Breath...And...and...and... :laughing6:
:blob5: :D Tremper Albino Giant/Super Giant Leopard Gecko!!! :D :blob5:

(Written in blue because I'm going to bring home a little boy :love5: )

The deciding factors:
I chose the Leo for many reasons. But in a nut shell...
#1 I like that the tank size is slightly smaller. The tort would need larger then a 40gal and there's only so much space in my home.
#2 A nocturnal animal means that there would be equal attention between Myah and -name chosen for gecko but kept as a surprise- hehehee...
#3 I already have a brand new dome light and two different sized hides (the hides I have wouldn't benefit the tort)
#4 A baby! :D *loving sigh* The hermanns tort is a rarer breed and it is nearly impossible to find a babe. All adults, sold to pet shops, then sold to the consumer.

I'm very excited over the idea of watching an animal grow and thrive in my care. I missed out on the baby years with Myah. I wish everyday that I could have one photo of her when she was small but her 1st family had none  I feel as though I will always have a BD and that BD is likely to be a rescue because there are far too many in need of loving homes. So just this once, I'll have a baby of a different kind to spoil and photograph to my hearts content.

This will not be a quick process. (wish I could snap my fingers, and make it happen) I'll need to save a bit more for the viv, stand, UTH and animal it's self. The breeders can't tell if a gecko will be a giant or a super giant until they can gage the rate of growth. I'll update as I add each new item for the babe to come.

I'd like to end my UBER long post by saying, this was NOT an easy choice. Turtle paws, are infact, ridiculously cute! (perfect Dooter  ) But it came down to the housing and the idea I could choose my babe from a respected breeder. Tonja's new god lizard will be a Leo. I couldn't be more happy Thank you all again -Holly- :D

Yay glad the gecko won, he is a cutie, I had one once but I can't remember the care it was so long ago. 11 years matter of fact.
Good luck with your little boy, I may have a boy dragon not a gecko I know, but boys are a joy to have....matter of fact I keep
picking up male animals...>.> even male goldfish...and tort paws are adorable. Have fun with your new man in your life.

Thank you very much. I thought a boy would be best as they get a little bigger and I have a house full of girls! I'm starting the search for a stand tonight UTH's make me nervous (I'm sure they're %100 safe, I'm just a paranoid person  ) so, 1st on my hitlist is a metal stand. I should have enough saved for the whole set up! :D Then, it's just waiting for the right babe. I hope all is well with Vash.

Congratulations. UTH are safe, they come with plastic nobs to put on the bottom of the tank so air can flow underneath. Get a dimmer switch or thermostat to control the temp. You want a floor tmp of 89-95 for proper digestion. You don't really need a light as albinos are very sensitive to bright light. The light from a window is enough for them to get a proper day/ night cycle.

Thank you. :D They don't need a blue light for feeding? I know they can see great in the dark but I thought they needed some light for their awake time. :? Already have the thermostat! A gift from a friend. It's older, but it'll do for now.

I just come in at about 6pm. Flip the room lights on and they know it's food time. Any lights at night can disrupt their day/ night cycles. I have no lights at all for any of the geckos. Just open the blinds :). Ambient temps are not as important as floor temp. No red or blue lights at night. If temps fall below 60 then ceramic heater is fine. I get mine out and handle them at night and sometimes during the day, they are very friendly. I don't use lights day or night.

That's interesting no lights at all for the geckos. The last time I had one I had lights...wow if only I knew that.
Spent money on bulbs to keep the tank at 95.

Well I'll be darned! I thought the room light would be too bright. But if this is how it's done, then I'll do it that way. Saves me money too! Thanks!

I agree they save money and can use that money on groceries.
I'm gonna get a dimmer soon so the light won't be bright.
Gonna get ready for a gecko...I want one so bad.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
