My first Beardie is about 11 years old an in dec he stopped eating! He has started to lose weight wont move around. I've turned up his heat got new lights he's been to the vet could not find anything with him. They gave him a shot of vitamins said should get him moving but hasn't is there anything else I could do vet said he's getting up there I just don't want to give up on him, is there any thing I might have forgot?

If your care has been correct for his whole life, 11 is a pretty old age for a beardie. He may just be signaling to you that it's his time to move on. Just in case it's something else, do you want to review your set up and care for us?

How old is your dragon?
How long have you had your dragon?
How long is your dragon?
What is the sex of your dragon?
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank?
Do you use UVB lights?
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb?
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)?
How old is your UVB bulb?
How close can your dragon get to the UVB?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage? Is it a white or colored bulb?
Di you have any type of night time heat source (ceramic heat emitter, colored bulb, etc)?
How long are lights on each day?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
What is the night time temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps?
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad?
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)?
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc?
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them?
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)?
Do you bathe your dragon? How often?
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath?
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done?
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon?

Wow, that's a really good age ! I'm sorry that he's not well....he is at the upper average age limit, but of course you want to help him in any way. Did the vet do blood tests ? They are quite expensive but would help you to see things like liver + kidney function. A few things you could try, new food items that might peak his interest. If you haven't tried hornworms, give them a try. They are nutritios, soft, loaded with moisture and most beardies can't resist them. You could also try chicken + squash baby food, and maybe ask your vet for some critical care formula. Those are just a few suggestions, I'm sure you'll get some good advice from others.

Really I thought 11 was bout average, he's in a 40 gal breeder have new power sun 150, also a zoo med t5 desert fluorescent, ceramic heater for nights temps 110 in his baskin spot an 90 on the cool side of the tank lil cooler under his hide.As far as food I have roaches, supers, horn worms which I gut load before they are given to him an my other dragons(not the horns) when I went to vet they did blood work yes was expensive, liver was high but to bad.I let him soak last night about 20 mins then wrapped him up in a warm towel for the night.I got some baby food guess I will try to get him to take that. I tried the pellets soaked them alil to make them soft but would not eat.

O.K., so the Powersun 150 is a mercury vapor bulb, gives off both heat + UVA/UVB ...is that the one you have. And you also have the Reptisun 5.0, or is it the 10.0 ? That would be alot of UVB, but not really a problem as long as the Powersun is at the proper distance. It sounds, though, as if the Powersun is too close because your temps. are too high by about 10 degrees right now on both the hot side and the cool side. If you lower your temps, that may solve the problem. Also, it's better to soak him a few hours before the lights go out rather than at night, and remember that they are cold blooded and can't maintain heat outside of their tank when they are wet so a towel won't keep them warm. But right now itlooks like the temps. are too high, so see if adjusting them helps.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
