Im trying to get my year old female and two year old male to mate.
Ive heard i can try this when the female is at least a year and of good size.
Shes big and healthy as well as the male.

My prob is,,i dont think she likes him.

When i put them together the male is for sure ready as he's head bobbing and climbing on her back but she runs away or just sits there stressed looking.

Any help here?

you have it reversed. the male can be as young as a year old but the female needs to be a year and a half. she is not ready to breed yet.
if you didnt know this you really arent ready to try your hand at breeding not trying to be mean just being truthful

My wife is a vet and I have breed Serval's for year's, so i doubt this is any harder,,,,not to be rude.

I have everything i need to Breed Beardies and have researched it much.

I was just told at a year was ok as long as size was not an issue.

If i am wrong here so be it, but,,,I am very familiar with breeding animals and have access to vet care at arms reach so i believe im more than ready.

Back to the question...
So she's avoiding him because she is A few months underage?

Is there a chance she would still do this after the age of 1 1/2, or do instincts kick in around this time frame?

Thanks

I dont breed my beardies till the female is at leat 2. She is at full growth and weight and hormones tend to kick in better at that age. At 1 year old a female is capable of breeding but she is still a juvinile and may get hurt if the male is overly aggressive. I have been a breeder several years and so has spyder. We have probably made the mistake you are attempting to make, so learn from our trials and simply wait a year.

just because you put not to sound rude in your post does not make it automatically nice. your post was rude and kind of said like a holier than though statement. just because you have bred cats does not mean you know and have everything you need to breed reptiles. also if your wife is not a reptile specialist (as most vets are not) it will be of no help to you. i was merely trying to help you out but since you apparently don't want my help and advice so be it i will not be giving anymore. do what you want and i so hope that your beardie does not die or become severely injured.

Easy tough guy....

I never said i was going to try again with them any time soon.

I am going to wait,,,i was just told different is all.

And i was not being rude in anyway, but simply letting you know im not just some young dumb kid trying something
i have no clue at.

Just dont come at people on forums with that whole "your not ready" crap,,seen it all before.

Sure, you might be more advanced but maybe offer some solid feedback rather then try and belittle me..

You also at once asked these same Q's,,,i was simply off by a few months "female is 14 months" so i can assure you that by this alone dose not carry enough wait to make me "not ready" but rather "misinformed".

Thanks to the other's "solid" feedback;)

i even re read my initial post it was neither rude nor unhelpful. maybe you should look back at it. it is the truth if a person does not know the ages of their dragons and or the ages they can safely be bred at they need to hold off on breeding. if you took my post as rude so be it but most anyone else would have taken my first post as helpful.

my second post was yes blaitantly rude. i apologize for its curtness but still yet you using the excuse of being a breeder of exotic cats has no basis on you being able to breed reptiles.

once again i am sorry for having been so curt. being with marines (im navy just assigned to them) tends to eventually teach you to throw some manners out of the window and be straight forward and blunt. i will strive to be kinder and gentler with my answers from now on.

I was listed in the Marines for 8 years, so not sure about that,,,maybe the Navy is different...

Anyways,,sorry as well,,,thanks for the help.

Can you maybe offer up a good read so i may reinform myself on the process?

My Dragons are one "the male" being a %100 Marketed Leucistic, and "the female" being Hypo Pastel/Leucistic.
Should make for some awsome babies some whites and pastels...

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
