Hello all,

My beardie Rico is female and around 2 years old. We rescued her from a young boy who couldn’t care for her anymore and he didn’t know her age or sex.

Rico has always been a relatively good eater but one day she suddenly stopped. We have resorted to force feeding her through a syringe every once in a while but we don’t want to do it too much as it’s obviously rather stressful for her.

She is peeing regularly and she was pooping regularly up until about a month ago. She has had no change in mood and isn’t aggressive or lethargic.

A few days ago she began producing a clear slimy discharge and these tiny white blobs. Could these be eggs?

Yesterday we noticed she got very pale and had a very black tail and beard.

Then today I noticed two pretty big hard lumps in her abdomen.

We live in a small county in Ireland and the nearest exotic vet is around an hour away and car rides stress Rico out so much so we want to avoid travelling if possible.

If anyone has any advice at all it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi, yes it sounds like poor Rico may be egg bound. Can you post pics of the white blobs ? You can Google infertile bearded dragon eggs yourself to see but posting pics here would be helpful. If she is eggbound she will need a vet who might give her a shot of Oxytocin to induce egg laying, otherwise she may not survive. Best wishes.

Thank you for replying. I sadly cleaned up her tank before getting a picture of them but they looked like little white raisins and left a chalky mark on the floor of the tank. I looked online but can’t find any photos that look like what she produced. I will upload a photo if she releases another one.
I also booked an appointment at a vet for tomorrow. It’s a pretty long drive and I hope the stress won’t cause her to deteriorate.
She has also just become less alert than usual. Normally as soon as she hears someone her head will cock up but a few minutes ago I checked in on her and she didn’t move her head or her eyes. Her eyes stayed in an extreme downward position. I tapped on the glass and she still didn’t move so I opened the tank and petted her and she just closed her eyes. I don’t know if that is relevant to her condition but it was just out of the ordinary.

Hi everyone
Sorry to give you this update but Rico passed this morning.
She died in her favourite hiding position and I think she passed peacefully.
Thank you for helping

Thank you very much. I’m so sorry we couldn’t get her to the vet sooner. She was so sassy and wanted to be treated like a queen and nothing less. I linked my favourite pics of her below. She will be deeply missed.

Hello,

Wow, I am so sorry, that is so sad you lost Rico suddenly.
When they become eggbound oftentimes it is such a rapid onset that it's hard to
get them to a vet in time.
Sorry for your loss, my condolences to you. She was a gorgeous girl!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
