my beardie hates his tank?

He is under a 10.0 reptisun with a 105 basking spot and an 85 ambient temperature. He is normally orange/yellow/red with purple sidebars, very good looking, but inside the tank (55gal) he is constantly dark, looks like a muddy dark red. Whenever i pick him up he immediately lights up into his normal self. I've heard that beardies can dislike their tanks (i've had him for almost 2 weeks now and i thought he'd get used to it)

i use non-adhesive shelf liner which maybe could be the problem? Even though he did start off on tiles and behavior was the same.

He is eating just fine and basking all day, i just dont know why he's dark all the time.

Does he glass dance alot? I know my little guy gets dark when he is basking sometimes to draw in more heat. Kinda like wearing a black shirt. All beardies are different and he could prefer a different temp. I've seen some members say if the temp goes above 103 their beardie will go nuts. Others have stated theirs love it at 110. So you might be able to play with the temps and see how that goes just stay within the safe zone.
