Hello,

How long was she stuck underneath of a door, did she possibly get injured? How old is your dragon?
What type of UVB light are you using, is it a flourescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light? What type of basking light do you use, a colored light or a bright white light?
What are your temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer do you use? Is it a stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
What types of food are you feeding her? Do you provide calcium supplementation, & if so how often?
Since her beard is black, she is in pain, or distress. Did you decide whether or not to take her to the vet?

Yes I did take her to the vet. it was a 95 dollar visit plus another 108 for an x-ray. The vet said she could have a blockage in her small intestine that she might feel but she wouldn't know with out an x-ray. We ended up deciding that it wasnt worth it considering if it was a blockage she would need surgery and we just cant aford that. So we got some pain meds and a dewormer from the vet. they administered them at the office and I took her home shes barely moving and breathing and only opens up her eyes every 10-15 minutes even if she is being handled. it is really heart breaking to watch. She may have some trauma from the whole door incident. She was under it for about 2-3 minutes until we were finally able to unscrew the the bottom hinge. she ran out and was all black for a couple hours. The next day she ate 12 crickets and seemed fine. Im really hoping she pulls through I have had her almost a year as she is such a sweet girl.

UVB: Reptisun 10.0 florescent buld
Heat bulb: Sunglow 75w white
Temp" Digital it is currently 77 degrees in her tank but she has a tank heating pan on the bottom right now to keep her warm while she is sick. it is usually about 90-100 on the basking side and 79-85 on the ccol side.
Food: I feed her crickets daily, Super worms for treat, mustard/collard/turnup Greens on the daily. she also eats apples and blueberrys.

I'm soo sorry you lost her. From what I've read, I don't think you could have done anything else to help her. I know how you hurt as I've lost more than one beardie and each one I've lost leaves a hole in your heart.

I work at a pet store, and last night we were taking out the garbage behind the building where we also park our cars. There were 2 boxes sitting on my car, and I figured it was one of the employee's b\c we joke around like that.. so I went over and was about to kick the boxes off my car when I realized they were duct taped & had air holes in them. I opened up the larger box to find 5 adult bearded dragons sitting there. The smaller box contained 15 baby bearded dragons which only looked to be around 1 month old. I live in NY, and this time of year it gets very cold at night. All the beardies were freezing cold, and a few of the babies were already dead. I took them inside and set them up in tanks & got some heat on them. I tried to seperate the males from the females, but we didn't have enough open tanks so I took a male home with me. They look healthy, pretty well fed, and were obviously taken care of before. Even some of the adults look like they have some pretty nice coloring, high yellows & oranges. I know who did it. This guy would always come into the store and bug me about taking his bearded dragons. I said I didn't have enough room or tanks but that I would ask around.. He wouldn't give me the tank he was using for them because he wanted to turn it into a fish tank. The last time I saw him he was practically begging for me to take them. If I would have known he was just going to DUMP them, then I would have, but I didn't think he was that horrible of a person. I talked to my manager this morning, and she says she remembers him jokingly saying that he was gonna just dump them somewhere if no one took them. Wow. If I ever see him again hes gonna get a piece of my mind. There were also dried up eggs in the box that I found them in, so im wondering how long they've been in there. I talked to my manager this morning & she said that the females laid more eggs, and some of the babies didn't survive overnight. They all are very friendly.. I just can't believe someone would have the heart to do that.

Hello,

Oh I am so sorry that you lost her! That is very sad. Do you happen to know what pain med was given for her? I hope it wasn't too much for her, or the wrong dosage.
If you need anything at all, let us know.

It is called Meloxicam and I was to give her 0.07 cc once a day for 10 days. I read the paper they sent me home with sunday night and it said that she had a low chance of survival. It also had alot of other things that they didnt tell me at the vet, which was pretty disturbing. They did mention a blockage in the gasy part of her intestine and the surgery would be somewhere between 1500-2000 dollars. There was just no way I could afford that. If I had that kind of money I would have done it in a heartbeat. My friend originaly owned her and he had owned other reptiles before any ways I got her she was about 8 months old and she was in pretty bad health. I came on this website and got all the information I needed to get her healthy and happy again. I only had her in my house for 3-4 months before all this happened I really feel like I let her down. She warmed up to me so fast I instantly got attached. I wish she didnt have to go so soon she deserved more time having a caring family.

Hello,

Well, the Meloxicam should have been safe at that level. It is likely she had some type of internal injuries then, & I am very sorry that she went in that manner. :(
Geez, do you know what would have caused the blockage? Or maybe it was something that she ate before she got stuck & then was not able to pass it? I know you must feel terrible, but it was an accident & I am sure that she doesn't blame you. At least she was with you when she passed though & had a good home. We are here for you.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
