My Bandit is developing a cataract....

So it turns out my Bandit is developing a cataract in his right eye. It's not all bad news--the vet says that when he gets bigger there's a surgery for it, and in the meantime he should be able to compensate. Apparently it's pretty rare in a young dragon, and the vet said it may mean he had a metabolic issue when he was younger. But his growth has been great--he's doubled in size in five months.

Crickets are hard for him to catch right now, but he can still nab dubia roaches, which are better for him anyway. Looks like we'll be buying them in bulk for the next little while....

I haven't heard of that happening. I'm glad there is a surgery for it and your vet is optimistic. It's surely helpful that he is growing well and getting good care.

Update: It looks like the cataract is clearing up on its own. His pupil is responsive again and he's having a much easier time with the insects. We're so relieved.
