My ~1 year old bearded dragon has swollen cloaca. Need advice!

I started noticing a bit of blood in my bearded dragon’s poop. I have kept a close eye on it and hoped it went away. It seemed to have gone away but now they have a swollen cloaca. Should I take them to a vet?

He looks impacted - what are you feeding-- please feed him some plain canned pumpkin - he needs to stay hydrated to push things along- I am gonna have a hbd take a look-

make sure the insects he's getting are smaller than the space between his eyes. no mealworms, they can cause impaction if a beardie is already having trouble passing their stool. try the canned pumpin like karrie mentioned, those are things that might help. use a q-tip to dab a little bit of raw honey there, it can reduce swelling

Thank you for the advice. I did some research and I think offering him large crickets may be the problem. He never seemed to have any problem with them, and has shown no other signs of impaction. He poops frequently and has no loss in appetite. I don’t have any canned pumpkin right now, but I will get some tomorrow.

Never mind I do have canned pumpkin, I have fed it to her and also put some raw honey on the swelling. When should I expect results or when should I be worried? Should I feed other veggies and fruits in addition to canned pumpkin? How long should I feed her canned pumpkin?

Also, I have a heat rock I used for my previous lizard, but I have heard it can be bad for baby lizards. Do you recommend using one? She is a year old but still very small.

You need to make sure his basking surface temp is proper too. Without the right temperatures, he wont' be able to digest and pass food properly.

Till he poops and make sure hes hydrated --- surface basking temps should be 105-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer ------ NO coils for a UVB please

You can't really guess how long it will take to go back to normal, just start the things we mentioned and hopefully it will be soon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
