Mushu and Evelyn [3-22 update]

Hi y'all!

I've been a long time lurker of this site and love reading, almost everyday, the stories and pictures that I just couldn't help myself; here I am.

My name is Kyle, and about two years I bought BD based on some info from a friend and Petsmart...mistake. Long story short, I learned alot. I was down'n'out about owning another beared pal as my old viv laid in the corner of the house for about a year. My pet-loving girlfriend decided to buy me a beardie on Dec 23rd,2013 from Petco! I was reluctant at first; but instantly fell in love with Mushu!

Well, back to work. I decided to move my work desk next to his cage so that when I am working at home, I am near him more often. It does cause me more distraction...but its worth it :mrgreen:

Found a new Pet store today near my new job's HQ! So today on my lunch, I decided to check it out...holy REPTILES! They had 30+ beardies for sale, 10 geckos, 10 snakes...it was awesome! Such a treat...and now I found a dubai colony I can buy from!

Mushu is going to be happy when I bring him roaches tomorrow..

Well, Deanna and I decided to end our relationship, rather nastily as well. So, it's been tough, but having Mushu around me alot more is helping the time go by. So I decided to weigh him today and record my progress here..


Mushu weighs in currently at 26.3 grams! He was 11 grams roughly 1.5 weeks ago.

My fat boy.. I got him on Dec 23rd, he was definitely a baby then... so i'd assume his birthday is in December?

Annnd Deanna (the girl that bought me Mushu as a gift) and I are back together. We decided to work out our kinks and continue moving forward.

Mushu will be glad to have his momma back though; she was always good at handling him (maybe better than I..) :mrgreen:

Thanks Zandi! We are on the right track, or I hope. We are doing a dedicated date night every week so we never stop having 'fun.' And our communication efforts have to increase. But I am optimistic. I am taking her on a date Thursday for us..and then Friday is Valentines, she's expecting two dates back-to-back lol. But it'll be good for us.

Mushu must know when I come home from work; he gets excited about his bath time, second feeding, and time to run around the house before lights out!

I've been spoiling him with waxworms the past two days, then decided to weigh him: 38g! That's 12grams more than last week!

Local pet store just got a clutch of beardies in, they are soooo adorable. I've been thinking about taking some tax $$ and getting a double viv stand/set up.. I want another beardie so bad! But I need to consider double the money, double the effort. We shall see...

I won't lie to you, back when I had just Jace, Zy, and Ava I still had a lot of free time. Sefinitely wasn't too much work either. By then I had figured out most of the do's and don't's. Now that's I've added Nissa, Koth, and Sorin a lot less time. I never regret any of it, just wish I wasn't a full time student.

I'm glad you two are working on your relationship. My boyfriend (Paul) and I have been together for a little over four years now and we implemented a similar thing. We take turns hosting dates once a week (I was last week and this is his week) and then on Sundays we talk about what's going well in the relationship ad what we can improve on. Similar to what you two are doing and it's worked out well for us thus far. I hope it has the same effect for you too.

They do grow so fast. I do a growth chart twice a month and sometimes I make the mistake of looking back at their baby days and get sad. Then if I go to Petco I get sadder and want another baby. Then I remind myself I am poor and I have no time anyways.

Well, I have a new addition to the household..a baby leopard gecko! He is a male ( or so I was told, I haven't handled him enough to sex it.) I absolutely love him! He was on sale at PetCo for 14 bucks. I already had infrared night ligh tand extra 5.5 dome fixture from home depot, so I picked up a 10gal, atleast for now, and added him to the home on Feb. 14th!
I was finally was able to get some pictures of him....

I still need to name him, and have no idea what to call hin yet... although it's rather disputed, I am feeding crix and mealworms to my gecko, alternating each day, or night rather.

Mushu is still doing great, he got a treat of waxworms the other day but decided to not eat crix for about 18 hours waiting for more worms..sorry dude
